Planning Updates- All The Latest Details. 28/03/2022

I wouldn't bet on it. The info coming out of the club at the moment is non existent.

Regular catch ups with the chairman, CEO and Stan etc.

It's all dried up
One day I wish to see a positive post from both you and Supa Shrimpa, seem to be going in circles of negativity without even a thought that something might be brewing?

It may be worth reminding ourselves that the football club do not own the land and are not responsible for the build. All of that will be down to the development company. Ron of course is the link between the club and the developers.

It is quite possible that nobody at the club, other than Ron, will know all the details, and that therefore the club is not in a position to start making statements.

When everything is ready to start, I'm sure we will hear about it. In the meantime, do we really need to be told about every twist and turn along the way?

Some on SZ have asked the question what benefits we would get with a new ground. Firstly let me say I have been a fan for 60 odd years. I am sentimentally attached to Roots Hall. I have met and spoken to Sid Broomfield and have the utmost admiration for the building of the ground and the fans involvement in that. However during that 60 years I had one pie that melted my fork as it was so hot and a few packets of crisps as a child. I don't drink at matches as I would need to go to the toilet which now at my age would disrupt the viewing of those fans around me but also involves wading through ****. My son said last home game someone had managed to lay a **** on one of the toilet seats.
Anyway today I went on the White Hart Lane tour. Their new stadium was designed by Populous who designed FF.
I went with my wife who has no interest in football although she was at the Liverpool game and the playoff final.
We started pre tour in the coffee shop, and had a pain au raisin and pain au chocolate and 2 coffees. Very nice. I did a recky of the snacks. Pizza, sausage rolls, and the biggest hot dog you've ever seen. All reasonably priced and I would have willingly eaten them. A quick look at the toilets. OBL with be pleased that I seriously could have eaten off the floor, it was the cleanest public toilet I have ever been in. Soap and hand cream. Yes it was the gents. Extraordinary!
So the tour starts. The ground is fantastic. Seats padded, view terrific, everything top class. The restaurants and bars and there were lots would make me spend my money there. I am not a Spurs fan but they must be unbelievably proud of their stadium
So to cut a long story short with FF the club would get in my view an immediate uplift in gate recepts as gates would increase. By how much is anyone's guess. Fans and that includes me would spend more in the restaurants and bars, in fact sod the football I might just stay indoors. Then when you get to naming rights for the stadium who knows. I was also impressed with how they were engaging the community. Kids playing in the outside all weather pitches along with the Spurs mascot.
OK we are not Spurs or in the Premiership but it is in my view undeniable that a new ground will increase the club's income. My wife might even come.
PS Spurs replica shirts are £90.

I too am attached to Roots Hall and have been going since I was 8 years old -originally taken by my father and Uncle and stood in the paddocks.
I have stood and watch SUFC from every stand at the club
I really don't want to leave but know we have to as the stadium is now not fit for purpose so the sooner this is all planned the better for all.

Without doubt, RH is at the end of it's time. We have no choice now other than to hope the new stadium comes to fruition. I just feel it's disrespectful to the fans that we have had no updates on what is happening. Totally disrespectful to the fanbase. Especially with Ron's situation regarding the non payment of VAT etc and him being removed from the companies behind the build.

Had roots hall ben deliberately run down though?

Roots hall was built in 1955 (67 years ago for those who can’t count). There aren’t many stadiums left in the football league that are told old/older. Yes the stadium could probably have been maintained better but ultimately sooner or later it would have needed to be complete redeveloped or we would have to move.

@Supa Shrimpa you need to move on and stop banging on about how disrespectful it is for the club to not do this or that. If there is not an update they won’t give one just for the sake of it. Further to this you have been told numerous times by numerous posters as well that there are things such as legal agreements and business confidentiality that Ron and the club would need to abide by so would be extremely limited what they could say. They also get slaughtered every time a timescale is incorrect even though on almost every occasion this is probably something well out of their control such as Southend Borough Council who seem even more useless than any other organisation. Take a chill pill and wait and see what happens. You cannot change anything regardless of what you are told!

Ron (lol), I will not "move on" as you put it. I love this club dearly and don't want to see it crumble. This site is for opinions and i'm entitled to mine as well as you are to your own.

UNOFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT.

Dear highly respected fans,

We hope you are all well and looking forward to the Easter break.

As for today's news:

The good news is that, there is no bad news.

However the bad news is that there is no good news either.

It would be fair to say that today has been a total non news day, with no news of any kind, good, bad or indifferent.

We are fully committed to keeping you all informed and will be providing you with further informative updates in the future, albeit on an irregular basis.
