Sandat was your standout player for me. He was excellent on the ball, I think he's 17 I read which is impressive. First half he was very clever particularly on the edge of the area. Pretty evident you are a decent side short of a striker based on everything going on at your club where you are in the league is remarkable.
The most offensive thing I've read on here compared us to Borehamwood what a ****ty thing to say...tonight's performance was a bit of a one off we never really play like that, usually all on the deck out from the back. Borehamwood play hoof ball every match!
Hopefully things improve off the pitch, as a Barnet fan I have lived through the same back in 93 when Stan Flashman had made accounting issues and we narrowly avoided expulsion from league but had all our promotion winning side contracts dissolved. You gotta love Roots Hall btw!

A night of disappointment. Started ok, great atmosphere and noise, but after the first 20 mins I don't think we made much of an impact and Barnet could have had 3 or 4. They have huge players, surely some of the biggest in the league, and whilst size on it's own doesn't mean anything, it doesn't help when almost every corner and free kick is food and drink for 6'5" players to simply head clear. We showed very little invention and their no 27 at the back had Powell in his pocket (almost literally).
I don't get some of the comments about Sandat... he's a 17 year old youth player, not in the team on merit but out of necessity. He wouldn't normally be anywhere near the first team, he's being asked to do a very difficult job with no experience and is making a half decent fist of it. He isn't quick enough in my opinion but he can certainly see a pass... I'm wondering if he may be more suited to an attacking/creative midfield role because he set up more attacks than anyone else last night. This wouldn't be an overnight switch but it wouldn't surprise me to see this... you heard it here first.
Blondy did really well apart from once and that cost us. But he could have saved that and not saved either of the 2 one-on-ones that he did save and no-one would be critical.
Some of Hobson's passing early on was woeful but my word, he made 2 or 3 (and 1 in particular) fantastic tackles and blocks.
Look, these players are NL players and many of them have come up from lower levels. If they did everything right all the time they wouldn't be here! They have given their best and should be applauded for that, not taken to pieces. We all know and are amazed at how they have managed to get us where we are in the league. Kev and his team (inc. Stanley, who also loves this club) have performed miracles keeping this unit together despite Ron's performance and decisions and we've heard numerous times that this group all like each other, do stuff together outside of the club and the performances on the pitch have backed that up.
And now Lopata.
Certainly the most disappointing aspect for me and this put a huge dampener on the evening when I found out about it as I was walking to the game. Mainly I think because of all the stuff he had said before, how much he loves it here and how he also celebrated with the team last weekend... certainly not the actions of someone apparently about to leave. It's obviously agent driven and in truth, I don't think anyone could blame any of the players... but the fact that the rest of the squad are seemingly all in it together make this hurt a little bit.
This just shows what a cracking job Maher and crew are doing keeping everything together.

Perhaps in the past we were and hopefully in the future we will be but sadly, it currently feels about right. The thing that is way beyond NL is the amazing support for the club, loyal through thick and thin…

Ah, Stan Flashman the ticket tout, or broker as he told people to call him. He kept firing and reinstating Barry Fry. He sacked him 7 or 8 times I think. . He knew Barry Fry was about the best Manager he could get for his part time players at that level. But they had a love hate relationship. Stan once threatened to have Barry Fry buried in cement under the M25, Barry told people at Southend. Stan was famous for saying he would make Barnet as big as AC Milan.

Thought we knocked it around nicely, but the big centre backs ate up everything we threw at them in the box. They doubled up on Bridge, which basically nullified our creative play.
It wasn't a "stone wall" pen, as others are saying. Sometimes those are given, and sometimes not (when there are others defenders in the vacinity). We desperately need some fresh blood out there. So disappointing with Lopata. That could prove a real turning point
Still, great attendance (gotta love a Fri night game) and it was lovely being in X Block once again.

As ever, on our surface, the ball bobbled just a notch before it reached him. He was trying to smother it and couldn't.

You're right about Sandat.
He's not quick, and that's a little concerning.
Had he been a yard faster he wouldn't have been checked by the red card that wasn't. And the thing about speed? If you ain't got it - you aint got it.
But in the circs, he's doing a fine job.
As for Lopata, was this known earlier in the week and only revealed yesterday?
Or did he land this in Kev's lap hours before kick-off?
If the latter - shame on the player.

No complaints with the result really. Barnet deserved their win and defended well enough to keep us at bay. Thought their three centre backs comfortably dealt with the crosses that came into the box. Did wonder why we kept going wide and then attempt to cross when Powell and Sandat never troubled them aerially and, also, there being a shortage of bodies joining them when we got in those positions.
Blondy, once again, showed what a very good one v one keeper he is. The flip side being that when you expect him to deal with a shot that would seem to be a routine save...
As for Sandat, he's been getting a lot of plaudits and I can see why. A young, local striker is always going to be someone the crowd can get behind. I always think, particularly with young players, it's consistency that is missing from their game and therefore I like to see them several times before lavishing praise on young shoulders.
With Sandat I think he's shown a decent level of that in his time on the pitch, but I also think that consistency stems from his work rate and honesty, which are the two attributes that have stood out more than any other. Being honest and working hard has kept him in the conversation - with plenty of injuries in that position we will find out more about whether his ability can influence matches at first team level sooner rather than later.
