Pubs in Southend

The mile and a third is the place to go Rob (as we did last year) will be there on Saturday before migrating to see Barna at the Hamlet.
Yes - I liked the beer but I felt the place itself is a little bit soulless.

Another one that's escaped my (limited) radar is a place called Craftwerk Beers in Alexandra Road. From the pics on their FB page, it seems a little bit uninspiring but I see that it's had some good local bands who've played there recently, e.g. Bob Collum & The Welfare Mothers.

Been in craftwerk plenty of times.

Great selection of beers and decent atmosphere. They do freshly made pizzas too, they are delicious.

We were joined on these tracks by honorary Welfare Mother Martin Belmont on the flying Fender Stratocaster....A make of classic guitar...made famous by?

Jonathan Richman? :Winking:

Unless you're thinking of the Telecaster, then it's Wilko. And then Joe Strummer, of course. Though I'm sure there were plenty of other famous guitarists before them.

And as for Martin Belmont, I enjoyed his guitar-ship with Graham Parker & The Rumour.

A clue B H.

Back in the day, used to meet-up with mates at The Nelson pre-match before it was sold off. Nothing really to commend it other than it was convenient and okay for a quick pint or two ..

Do you remember a real ale pub opposite the old bus gararage (where The Old Trout is now )? WE met there 10 years ago the night before our Wembley game .
