Breaking News OLDHAM game now ALL TICKET. No pay on the day - sales finish midnight Friday online

At the moment I genuinely don't know what to do. I attend games with my dad, brother and a group of mates who have been going together for decades. We go to the pub before and sometimes after. Most of us live mid/North Essex and travel in by train which can take a while.

Football is an escape for me. I have two young kids one of whom has a chronic health condition and the weeks can be tough. I look forward to my Saturdays, having something to look forward to helps me massively.

My dad is elderly and won't be around forever. He doesn't care about the financial stuff. He just wants to watch his team, and I value the time I spend with him at football. I don't get that time elsewhere really.

I hate Ron Martin with a passion. I always believed that he was not taking money out of the club, his moral conduct over the past few months have put major doubts in my mind about that.

I have a season ticket, I want to support Maher and the lads, who i have ultimate respect for. But I 100% understand and respect those who want to send a strong message to Ron Martin and perhaps more importantly the wider football community and media by staying away.

I genuinely have no idea what I am going to do. It's a shame to see people who have made their decision one way or another sniping at those that disagree. Like everything in life, it is not as simple a decision as it looks.

You should absolutely go and go with no guilt what so ever. Go for you, your family and your mates because all of you have earned that right by keeping the club alive for all these years anyway.

Your support is certainly not for Ron, everyone knows that. Its for Kev and his boys and for the players that have risked their financial future by not signing for others this summer. Your money won't end up in Rons pocket but it might pay for match day staff etc.

Plenty of opportunities all week to put Ron under pressure and he will be gone soon enough. But if you don't support the team on the pitch we are just ruining our own season and costing the next owners more money when they try to rescue it..

As others have said you won't get that time back so Ignore those that might sneer at you from their keyboards. They certainly won't be thanking you or your dad when they push your family out of the way for a play off semi final ticket.....

T
Nope. Most are here.

The issue is, by putting money into the club, you aren't supporting the staff and allowing the club to sign players etc.

Ron has already proved that.

How many times do we get an everage gate of 6k and staff and bills go unpaid.

He just takes the money and runs the club into the ground. You aren't saving anything by paying. He doesn't care.

I'd love nothing more than to be at roots hall on the 5th of August in my usual season card spot, but im absolutely against putting money into the club whilst he is in charge.

New owners in and I'll be first to buy a season card, shirt and beers etc.

Any money paid in now, will just go into Ron's bank account as he waves goodbye.

I'll probably do the pre match in the pub and then head home to watch the game indoors. My 3 other mates who are / were season card holders will all be doing the same.
Tommy, last time we spoke you only had 1 mate. Glad to see you’ve recruited 2 more. You’re doing well.

Please, do not live to regret anything and let your life be ruled by yourself.
Completley understand and spend the time with the family and friends doing what you all enjoy. How many times have we all said to ourselves “if only” and those two words are massive when we regret not doing something.

So today I’m in a real head v heart moment as my head throughout this process has told me boycott until Ron is gone!
However these last few days I’m thinking of the dedication, resolve and loyalty shown by Kev and team and if I write down all the pros and cons on paper about staying away or supporting Kev and co guess who’s coming out on top?
I’ve concluded that they are the real heroes and have gone more than above and beyond thus far to deserve my backing so as soon as the ticketing service allows I will be purchasing my 3 season tickets.
My heart has won this battle and I guess lots of fans will be in the same space so do what you feel is right for you

We were expecting we might bring 1000 (as we did to Torquay on opening day last season) but, as you say, with still no news as to tickets or if the match will even take place it’s going to be hard for many. Shame really as every Latics fan is £20 for your recovery
So bad you can’t buy tickets or make travel arrangements we are all waiting for this safety certificate which is being carried out as we speak buy the local council many Southend supporters are the same that have to travel long distances they can’t make any arrangements this is all down to one man our tosser of a chairman he hasn’t spent a penny on the ground for years, hope you have some ticket news very soon & you have a good season

I would have thought that people would have realised by now that all their protests haven't made the slightest difference to Ron Martin's actions. A slight irritation at the best. Protest all you want but the true supporter will be behind the team when needed. How can protesting when Maher and co are on the pitch trying to get a favourable result help anybody but Oldham. Show the world that whatever the situation the supporters are there showing solidarity with the players.

Are you saying those that protest are not true supporters then?

What's better for the team in the long run - turn up at RH, or protest at Ron's house - assuming the 2 are mutually exclusive. If the latter speeds up getting the club on a stable footing, then it's that isn't it? The protests are supporting the team.

Be interesting to hear a players perspective.

What a daft comment?. Every fan who has given up their free time on the last 2 Saturdays, & also tomorrow ( me included ), will be at the game next Saturday supporting our team, and not drumming up support by protesting outside his home.
'A slight irritation at the best'?. I bet he hasn't left his home ( with his sour faced wife ) on a Saturday around 9.30am & not returned until late evening for a long time?.
O.k imo the numbers who have demonstrated have been less than what i'd expected, but people have commitments, & it's not the easiest place to get to & park locally.
We can all give a shrug of our shoulders & say 'what the hell difference will it make', but to do nothing would give the 'roach' a false understanding that no fans care.
