Breaking News We are the Consortium buying SUFC.

Appreciate all their efforts (and money!) in saving the club.

It's great that they're all fans of Southend, but I guess there's a slight concern about a lack of professional footballing background in that group, especially when there's no majority owner it can lead to a lot of differing opinions and it can be hard to make a clear decision on footballing matters.

It might be a smart idea to think about appointing someone who can look after the footballing operations side of the club - who better than Stan Collymore? He's the reason we have talented people like Maher and Still at the club in the first place, and seemed to have a very strong and modern view on how a club should be run from a footballing perspective. Someone who can make the tough calls on sackings/hirings without us relying on a group of people having to come to a consensus.

Just my thoughts on it anyway, I think having someone managing the footballing operations as a technical director or football director or whatever you want to call it could be a smart move.

A bit on Kreyling & Arnold. Kreyling is also or was a hell of a footballer, from my memory of him at senior school. Went on to play at Heybridge, Canvey and Braintree I think. Could maybe do a job! 😂

He was my next door neighbour growing up in Eastwood. No idea he was involved.

Here's a bit about Jason Brown: https://arkkancapital.com/leadership/
Jason is the portfolio manager for the Arkkan Opportunities Fund Ltd. and founder of Arkkan Capital.

Jason founded Arkkan following his retirement from Goldman Sachs in 2013. Jason was a member of the Goldman Sachs Special Situations Group between 1999 and 2013. His responsibilities grew from credit analysis to senior roles within the Asian Special Situations Group, and ultimately to leadership of the global business between 2011 and 2013.

Between 1994 and 1999 Jason worked at Bear Stearns in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for credit research and distressed debt investing across Asia ex Japan.

Jason has more than 25 years’ experience investing in Asia Pacific credit markets and a deep network of long-standing industry relationships.

Jason holds an MPA from the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University, and a BA (First Class), History (Modern) and Economics from Oxford University.

Also a little bit about the fund he raised in 2021, $245m!

I wonder if Jason is on here, might not have the time to be but would have thought a lifelong overseas fan might find use in the zone.

Isn’t that Tom Lawrence remit unless he isn’t staying let’s hope not.

Honestly I feel the opposite. These are local people who know the Club, have been successful in business and more importantly there's not a property developer among them.

The Club itself is well-run just not well-funded previously. The football side of things has a great structure.

I'm much more positive than before this statement tbh.

This is the re-assurance we were all hoping for. Supporters of the club, running the club and with sufficient finance. Searching every avenue to exploit the commercial opportunities, for the good of the club and it's place in the community. I'm of a certain age where I don't want to wish time away but roll on November 1st!

I hope you're right, and it's obviously great that the new owners are all fans of the club, but being a fan doesn't always mean you make the best footballing decisions for the club, it might even cloud your judgement. And its an important thing here - no one person has majority ownership, what happens if half the board want to sack a manager and the other half don't? Who makes the call?

We do have a great structure on the footballing side right now, but that's exactly because someone like Stan came in and made it happen. Without him where would we be? If he's done such a good job setting up this structure, shouldn't he be part of the club to ensure that continues?

I agree for what my opinion is worth. Get the right people in, and let them run the club without micro-managing everything.

This is also a much better outcome than a single rich 'sugar daddy' who may loose interest and leave us precisely where we have been again.

I also really hope that they will connect more with the City and surrounds.

Thrilled that Gary is in the consortium - he kept that very quiet whilst cycling across the States for charity.

Gary cares passionately for this club and truly is a lifelong supporter, attending home and away games when other 'directors' can't be arsed.

Sits in the West Stand rather than the Directors Box and bleeds blue.

If Gary says “Because I f***ing love the club you idiot." then he honestly means it, however rest assured that Gary would NEVER lower himself to speaking to anyone in that manner irrelevant of who they are.

Enjoy the remainder of the season lads - we are now in safe hands!!
