Breaking News We are the Consortium buying SUFC.

Honestly I feel the opposite. These are local people who know the Club, have been successful in business and more importantly there's not a property developer among them.

The Club itself is well-run just not well-funded previously. The football side of things has a great structure.

I'm much more positive than before this statement tbh.
I pretty well agree @Beefy. The footballing side has great opportunities with the structure in place & with appropriate funding the club operations can be improved to where they can make a real difference.

The fact that the day to day functions have survived at all over the last several months is a testament to the staff & I hope, more than anything, this gives them some comfort that there are brighter times ahead.

This is surely as good if not better than any of us had any right to expect.

While not in the league of Saudi Princes they are all men of substance.

I doubt if any of the individuals forming the consortium could have reached their present level of success without being more than competent managers. This is important as the club as been incoherently and incompetently managed since.......(you can fill in the date if you like but I make it a very long time). With their background it should be possible to place the club on a solid footing.

While the club was a shambles off the field the hopes for success on the field were always remote.

We now have a group of successful and competent individuals whose motivation springs from them having been long standing supporters.

Could there be a starker contrast to what went on before?

This is a better outcome than I dared hope for.

Onwards and upwards and hoping the management team are able to find some creative solutions to the many obstacles they will face until the embargo is lifted.

I am not the only one who be holding out the unrealistic hope that promotion is not out of the question even after the ten point deduction.

Many thanks to the consortium for their efforts and to the local politicians who exerted sufficient pressure to making this happen.

UTB!

Not sure if it's been mentioned as I am a bit behind on my catch-up... but with no majority shareholder and a proper board in place, will one of them become chairman (Rees, I would assume as he has been the front man), or could they appoint a chairman (e.g. promote Tom)?

Well I am happy with what I have read, real Southend supporters who must have done well in buisness, we have a fantastic management team plus Tom & Stan and an incredible support base (us Shrimpers)
Personally I love Roots Hall so with this "new start" I believe we have great potential........
Let's enjoy some stability for the rest of this season and then push on next year.
I'm very happy and would thank the individual members of the Consortium for their investment in our club.
Onwards & upwards

All we are saying is "Give Rees a chance". 🎶..........(I knicked that from elsewhere) :Moon:
To the tune of Blur's Girls & Boys (a very quick 1st attempt)
Plenty of new material to sing to!

High Street's a jungle, so call the police
Following the herd, under Rees
I've watched since the nineties, been paranoid
On Southend beaches, Take your chances
Looking for boys that can play
Who can play for the boys
Who can win for the girls
And enjoy all of our noise
Always should be Southend you really love..
