Wembley Commiserations Thread

Not all of us can go to Wembley for various reasons, some might be work related or financial and many other different reasons.

In my case I can’t go as I’m not well enough and it’s one of the most heartbreaking and frustrating experiences in my life, I have or should I say had a match ticket and all that but health has to come first in my case.

So I thought I would start this thread so that other fans who can’t go can share why and maybe make it a little easier that they are not alone in not being there and that it’s not the end of the world.

I’ll be drinking for both of us, big dog 🍻

I'd like to mention my old mate Colin Rickards who can't be at Wembley for health reasons.

It was a pic of Colin's face that launched the club's TIFO appeal two days ago.

He is a top guy who suffers from Parkinsons and helped to set up a Parkinsons Cafe meeting group which has been very successful. Colin is a long standing East Stand season ticket holder.

Speaking to him yesterday, he says he hopes to cheer us on from home watching on DAZNView attachment 37122
Sat next to this man for a few years in the east, along with his daughter. She moved to the south stand when her child was born, with child I may add. So that’s three generations and counting! Absolute gentleman, passionate fan, life blood of our team. Have a feeling Colin will have a good day Sunday, he deserves it. Mind you, he could shout a lot!!

I honestly feel sorry for all of you they are not going. Our biggest game in history to date that means more to the club than any other success we had in the past.

All the home and away games added up can’t compare to Sunday. If there’s anyway any of you that can’t go can try by anyway possible to get there do it. You will feel such a sense of regret by not going. You only live once just go. It’s only one day, having said that though
you can all support from the comfort of your home by watching on dazn.

Hope we win and in the future we have another big day like a fa or league cup final or even a championship play off final. That realistically won’t happen in the majority of our life time so I’m pleading with you all to try and make it tomorrow.

You will all regret not going !!! If any of you need any help I can try my best to make it happen.
Well, that's made me feel better!!!

Royal Marines aren't based in Malta. For training, he'll be in Devon, then after passing out, he could remain based in Devon or Scotland.

Once he has free time, he wants to catch games.
All the best to your son on joining the Royals, 3 members of my family had that honour, my brother in law and sister were stationed in Malta for nearly two years back in the mid 70’s in 42 com, great times ahead for your boy.👍

No I don’t deserve anything mate, I am just like any other Southend fan.
One thing the zone has taught me over the years is that no fan is superior to another, yes you can have some who are more well known in the community but that does not make them a better person, far from it.

We in this thread are all in the same boat and it’s about sharing some camaraderie and cheering the blues on from wherever we are in the world!

Oh and @Wickford Blue don’t have too many extra beers for me… it won’t be enough and I would not want you to miss the game passed out in the toilets 🤣🤣🤣

Hope you have a great day Sunday mate 🍻
If every Shrimper has 1 pint extra each, it should be just about enough to cover you @TrueBlue

Cheers. Yeah, RMs used to be over here quite a bit before the British forces left.

And thanks. He's chosen a tough path, but he's really passionate about it.

Regrettably I can't attend for personal reasons which for me is really painfull.Over the years I have been fortunate to witness our team winning promotion at Bury Cardiff and Wembley plus Cup exploits at Everton and Chelsea. However this next encounter is much more vital it's our return to EFL.Iam just hope that I can access DAZN to watch

As a good uncle you should of taken them to the game.
If only. One snag is I also have a two-year old son and equally I don’t live in Southend either. Ideally of course we would go for a day-trip there and I can sneak out to a pub.

My nephews aren’t into football yet. One of them is absolutely obsessed with trains and transport in London.

I quit my job for a 5 month career break and have travelled Asia, currently in Australia with Japan and Canada to follow.

I fell ill in Thailand with severe food poisoning and have already had to fly home once to get better as it lasted over 3 weeks. I flew back out to Vietnam when better before the playoffs started and am currently in Sydney. I seriously looked at flying home again but with the difficulty of getting tickets meaning one wasn't guaranteed I threw in the towel this week as didn't want to waste any more money in case I couldn't!

It kicks off at Midnight my time so we've got an air Bnb where we'll hook up to Dazn via the IPad. I had hoped to watch it in a bar until I realised you have to pay for Dazn and can't see any bars doing that!
