Transfer news
Here's a name I'll circle back to... Andy Dallas. Know for a fact he had agreed to sign when the Kimura takeover was in the works (Summer 2023) But Barnsley snapped him up and have since sent him on 4 pretty unsuccessful loans. His record in this division is 1 in 2 across spells at Solihull & Chesterfield so proven in this division and is still only 25. Fits the profile and is clearly someone Kev and Co were keen on. 1 year left on his Barnsley deal and well down the pecking order. Whilst I appreciate his gal record over the last 2 seasons isn't great he's been at poor sides and mostly feeding from bench minutes. No brainer this one imo, i'm sure he'll be one of the names on the whiteboard.
Hope so. Josh Kelly might also be.

He spent a bit of time at Oldham in the 2023/24 season, if any of our new friends are still on here they may be able to provide some insights. Doesn't look like he was a roaring success:

Made 39 appearances in L2 last season. Will be out of reach to purchase, but perhaps a loan is possible now the Wombles are in L1.
I can't see us going for loans unless we have a crisis during the season. Walks, Kendall and Hopper are under contract which leaves one space if Bonne departs. IMO we need another Cardwell with pace and power.

He’s one I thought about a while back. I think we’d still be interested if there was a deal to be done and I think there might be. Doesn’t look like he’s done much to convince Barnsley he’s ready for first team football with them and with a year left on his deal, I can’t help but feel they’d be keen to cash in if there was £40k-£50k on the table.

Would love it if we got Cashman and Dallas as the new attackers. Dont know how realistic that is but would be a decent front line. Although we would need a creative midfielder to create them chances along with a new LW/LWB depending on formation next season.

Pearce was 28 when York signed him and had just scored 43 goals in NLS. Taylor is 34 and scored 48 goals in the Isthmian, the league below NLS. He may well get a NL team take a gamble on him but he won’t be the next Ollie Pearce.
We took a gamble on Bonne, look how that worked out!!!

Big Josh Walker vibes.

Personally I’d steer well clear of players trying to recapture past glories when it hasn’t happened for them the last two years at 3+ clubs.

With Dallas he hasn’t replicated that goalscoring form at five(!) different clubs under at least five different managers. If you sign him expect the bit part player of the last two years not the goal scorer from when he was at Solihull but I can’t see that being an attractive option given his likely wage demands from dropping down from the EFL.

Personally I’d look for an ascending player rather than a reclamation project.

We need five forwards.

We basically use four every game with the way we use our subs so to have only four means we’d go short as soon as there was an injury.

I get the budgetary constraints and the fifth forward may well need to be a younger, cheaper player and/or a loanee but five forwards is a must.

Certainly not a front two that you'd play together as they're both comfortably sub-6ft tall. I'd take Cashman over Dallas all day long as he's improved year-on-year and would, in my opinion, easily cope with the step up in league quality. We desperately need a big, physical striker that can hold the ball up and actually finish to complete the set.
