What is hacking you off today?

A tree has fallen down in Chalkwell Park today, injuring several people, sparking a huge emergency response. Obviously we wish everyone a full recovery. I remember as a kid, the parks team would check every tree, every year, in all the local parks. I suspect this doesn't happen as frequent, due to cuts in funds and staff. Anyone know anything, regarding the park trees?

So horrible. Some reports say casualties and others just mention injuries. Praying for the best

Five children have been taken to hospital after they were hit by a falling tree in an Essex park.

The incident in Southend sparked a major response from emergency services. Air ambulances, fire crews and police rushed to Chalkwell Park on Saturday afternoon after being alerted to a "serious incident" just before 3pm.

Two of the children are believed to have severe injuries.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Essex police said: "We remain on the scene of a serious incident at Chalkwell Park in Southend.

"Officers, alongside ambulance and fire service colleagues, are responding. We were alerted shortly before 3pm to reports of a tree falling in the park.

"There have been a number of casualties and our work at the scene is ongoing.

"We would please ask the public to avoid this area where possible while this work continues.

"Updates will be issued as soon as is possible."

The East of England Ambulance Service, that attended the scene, said: "Six ambulances, three ambulance officer vehicles, the London Air Ambulance and Kent Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

"Two children were transported by road to Southend University Hospital. A further three children were later transported by road to the same hospital with minor injuries.”

1 child aged 7 has died and another in critical condition.

Thoughts are with their families

I've just seen the outrage about Kneecap. I didn't quite get what you were talking about, but now do.
Video footage appeared to show a member of the group saying at a 2023 gig: “The only good Tory is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP.” Footage from another date last year appeared to show one of the band shouting: “Up Hamas, up Hezbollah” – groups that are banned and defined as terrorist organisations in the UK.

So after that, yes, I will definitely not be watching Kneecap anywhere.
They say these are extracts from an anti-Kneecap video made about them.My postive comments were about the band's film which is excellent & doesn't contain any of the footage which you refer to.Didn't see the Glasto set yeserday (as we hit the beach instead).Understand their show wasn't livestreamed and will be shown at a later date!

They may show it later on demand said the BBC, depending on the result of the enquiry about them and Bob Vylan's Glastonbury appearance. Kneecap member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh faces a terror charge for allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag at a previous gig, with his next court hearing scheduled for 20 August. Unfortunately during their Glastonbury set,, a member of Irish rap trio Kneecap suggested fans "start a riot" outside that bandmate's upcoming court appearance. He could be charged for that.

If they show it I'll probably watch it.

Started to watch John Fogarty last night, so sad his voice has gone, he should call it a day.
FWIW ,saw JF with CCR in their only UK apperance at the RAH in the early 70's .They were excellent. Also saw him with a pick up band at the Palau Sant Jordi back in the 90's, he was good then .Missed out on seing him in Barna last summer so no idea if you're right or not.Incidentally just seen Rod Stewart at Glasto & thought he was excellent.
