I reckon there must be a few other zoners out there who are in a similar situation to me, so I thought I'd share my feelings and see if there are like minded people out there.
I'm a 28 year old single guy and a few years ago went out in big groups of guys locally, got wasted, had a laugh and tried to pull lots of birds etc... I went to uni in Southampton then lived there for many years and only moved back to Southend a couple of years ago as I started working in London. Since I've been back in Southend, many of my old buddies from the area have moved away or got married/are in serious relationships.
I've had flings with girls from work recently and most of the drunken nights out I've had are with mates in London or Southampton. However, what I've missed is going out locally with guys in Southend, having a few beers, getting some banter going and chatting up lots of birds. I've had a few mates come down to visit me recently and we've been to Tots (can't call it Talk) and Bakers Bar which have been quality nights out, there is so much talent around and the girls are actually really friendly. I'd love to go to these places more often or have a few beers locally, are there any other guys out there who are in a similar position to me? Although I'm 28 I'm not looking to settle down yet, I look younger than I am plus I'm keeping my receding hairline under control so I just want to go out and have fun!
I stayed in all weekend and felt as frustrated as Sodje at my lack of opportunities! Just wondering if there are other guys out there who are in a similar position to me, who don't have the mates around to hang out with like they used to etc.... fellow Shrimpers could join forces!
