Just got back - Forest

I think any hope of a quick promotion back to the CCC is misguided :(

I still think we have a very genuine chance of at LEAST the play-offs, and you say we can't beat those sides around us but let's not forget we weren't outplayed by any means against Tranmere/Carlisle (infact we were the better side in both) we just got unlucky - we are certainly as good as if not better than most of those around us in the top 6. We've also got our trips to both Forest and Leeds out of the way now too and those would have been the 2 games at the start of the season where I'd have expected nothing, there's no reason why we can't beat these sides at home. Let's not forget that after a very tough run of games we're only 3pts off the top of the division with the bottom side next at the Hall. IF we can overcome the loss of Leon for a few games we're genuine contenders and I personally feel that it's been a positive season so far (we've seen many who've dropped from the Championship and not challenged at all the following season).

We can definitely go up this season one way or another, but if we don't it will have been a positive step towards another challenge next season.....and it looks very much like there will be no Forest or Leeds to worry about next term. If Leon signs permanently and the stadium gets final approval which is likely the future will be brighter than ever for this football club.

Wasn't expecting too much from last night's game although it's never nice to cop a thrashing like that. There will be many twists and turns to come this season but we need to bounce back from this in our next league game, I hope that one of our other strikers can step up to the plate to compensate for Leon's upcoming absence.

We cant beat the top teams at the moment (Leeds, Orient, Carlisle, Forest) so im expecting between 7th & 10th tbh.

I know I was very high rate after the Brighton defeat but lads, if we take out the loss last night, we were all very optimistic about the season.

Forest away was always going to be a tough game and one I didnt expect us to win. The 2nd goal should have been offside and if Leon hadnt of been sent off, we could have come back into it.

Even the "Mighty" Leeds lost 3-1 away at Carlisle! I'd rather lose 4-1 away at Forest with ten men than 3-1 away at Carlisle with 11 and I dont think Leeds are doubting if they can get promotion this season.

Its 1 defeat which we should all forget. We will score goals, we've got plenty of midfielders who can chip in with alot and we all know Leon Clarke (When he isnt suspended) will score goals. I'm still very confident we can get promotion. Lets not forget that we lost at Forest away the last time we were in this league and can anybody remember where we finished that season?

If we can find a forward capable of scoring goals to partner Leon (If he stays that is) then i find no reason why a Top 6 finish isn't on the cards.

I wouldn't say we've been played off the park by any side this season... The 3 Times we've lost on the road (Brighton, Leeds, Forest) Have been because of switching off at the wrong time and we've been caught by sides that will no doubt be there or thereabouts come May, Leeds and Forest for sure.

Always looked a game full of goals, but the turning point was the sending off, as we had nothing to combat the pace that Forest had been displaying all night. Trying to do that with 10 men was mission impossible. I didn't see Clarke use his head, more of sticking out his chest, after throwing Chambers to the floor and they'd both got up. Chambers appeared to kick Clarke, which with Clarke's red card obviously coming, the ref and his officials totally lost it, with letting Chambers getting off scot free!

Most disappointing of all, the whole sorry event took place well after the whistle had gone for a throw, so the whole event was meaningless, as far as the move was concerned.

Gower was man on the match for us imo, with a superb performance. I might even have to review my statement about his stamina levels. lol

Still with Leon out of the attack for three/four games, depending on the loan terms, we are back to having a set of strikers that prompted him coming to the club in the first place. eek!

Totally agree with previous statements about the officials bending to the crowd, even for corners and throw ins. It always looked as though we'd need more than one goal, but with 10 men the writing was on the wall. Unfortunately the game semed a step too far for Moussa at this stage of his career, and I'd have bought Francis on at the start of the second half, but that's all academic now.

On to Rochdale then, and a much more closer game in prospect, with Foran injured, and a set of strikers all with question marks hanging over them in the goalscoring department.

How anyone can hope we can come in the top two is beyond me.

We cant beat any of the better sides which i think most will agree is quite a fundemental problem.

I think were a decent side who have been made good by Leon. That said if Leon does not sign up in January I think Tilly has a job on his hands as our attack I dont think will score enough.

Agreed, DtS. We're good enough for the playoffs, but I don't think we'll be troubling the automatics unless we can start beating the division's top sides.

We're still conceding too many goals to be genuine title contenders. Tilly has got a major conundrum in that Barrett and Clarke are too similar (and have too many similar flaws) to make a truly effective centre half pairing.

Until Tilly grasps that nettle, we will ultimately be lucky to make it to the playoffs (and the top two is well beyond us at the moment).

Scoring isn't our problem. Conceding is.

We are simply Graeme Hick's this season.

People keep saying this - so what? There's no problem being flat-track bullies at this level because, frankly, there are a hell of a lot of flat tracks in League One! We can lose every game against the rest of the top five and that won't make any difference so long as we continue to ruthlessly despatch the bottom 14 or 15. History shows that you can lose more than a dozen games in this league and still go up.

I remember one season about six or seven ago in which we took at least four points from each of the teams who got promoted from League Two that year (Chesterfield, Brighton and Cardiff IIRC). We still finished in the bottom half though.

No quite. Just because he isn't available because of a deal between us and Wednesday then doesn't change the fact that he is banned for three matches. It's no different than being suspended and injured at the same time.

That is assuming that we don't appeal, and that any ban is imposed before the Rochdale game.

We'll see. I don't think that that is the case.

I might be wrong but I'm sure that Forest were one of the clubs that were interested/ bidded for Gower back in the summer. Call me a cynic...

Surprised no-one's mentioned how poor the Moose was. He looked like a boy playing against men. I wasn't impressed with him against Northampton and he played poorer against Forest. It was him who was late pushing out after the initial corner had been dealt with which meant that anyone standing in space behind the back four would be on-side. He can't help being slightly built but if you are, then you have to make up for it by having quick feet, and fast reactions. You'll really make a difference if you add determination, a little aggression, and whole-hearted commitment to your game. Unfortunately apart from giving us the opportunity to shout "Moooooose" at him, he's brought little or nothing to the party for the last two games.

I feel we've really missed Richards presence since he got injured for exactly the reason you state. Him and Clarke were working well together which would suggest they'd be your starters but what do you do with AB then? We've got better full-backs (IMHO), and the two CB berths would be filled.

Time for Captain number 3 perhaps? Bailey'd get my vote.
