..And people are finally starting to give the team the credit its due. Im hearing people now picking us for a top 6 finish, and comparing us to hartlepool last season. Personally, i can't see why not... we've had a very difficult run in to the season compared to others, and now know we have nothing to fear, so i don't believe a top 6 finish is completely off the cards, though of course i'll settle for mid table..

I never thought we would have this start. Am so chuffed. 36 points till safety!!

Still a long way to go my friend. Safety is still our priority and if we can acheive this than I will be happy. Then anything after that would be a bonus whether it would be mid-table, playoffs, promotion, champions, ldv trophy winners (at last) or even a decent run in the fa cup. But I would sacrifice any cup success for safety in League 1. this is where we will have to start. Take one game at a time and see where we end up. Its a tough league where everyone can beat everyone. There is no promises, no definites, no securities. Its a long season but I am sure it will be a good one.

Micky Adams of Coventry thought the draw he got at Derby last night was good as he 'was down to his last 18 pros''!

Good job he does not manage SUFC.

I agree...you never know though - if we are still in this sort of position come Christmas then I will start getting excited.

Tranmere will not be easy game as i think they are a top 6 team.

I am just really pleased with the style of football we are playing and the fact that we always look likely to score goals.

I don't think our football can be questioned.

We played the best football last year as many teams would clarify and once again this season we are showing teams we are a very good footballing team.

We have a very good attacking force and the addition of Mr Campbell-Ryce adds to that. I wouldn't like to be the defender having him and cole running at me, while watching out for Goater, Eastwood and Gray. If we can keep it tight at the back and stop conceding silly goals we will do well this season.

Unlike what a certain Mr Kamera said. But then what does he really know about true football?

Agreed.

We have to stop leaking soft goals.

Worryingly in my eyes, they have had an air of similarity about them too, a ball played down the channel, cross comes over which is held up in the box by the front man, with his back to goal he lays it off to a midfielder who is steaming in unmarked from the centre of the park to smash the ball in. I can think of at least three games already where we have conceeded goals in this manner.

The defence need to get tighter to their counterparts in and around the box and the midfield need to track opposition players runs off the ball better.

Now i'm probably being a bit harsh there, obviously the players have stepped up a level so the quality of opposition will be better, but this is an area we need to improve on greatly, im sure it will come in time.

Anyway other than that, superb start!

I am sure as we have all noticed the similarity Tilly has as well and him and his fantastic coaches are putting rights to this wrong.

So we're swapping to 3-4-3 now are we? That'll prevent conceding silly goals!

I agree about the conceding soft goals point. Then again, this is a hope, not an expectation. If we play like we are, yes the goals may dry up but we will be safe. If we turn the defence in to the rock it was last year then there is, and in all honesty this time, no reason why we shouldn't be visiting 2nd home Cardiff again.

Well the recent omens are pretty good:

* 2 straight promotions in 89/90 and 90/91
* 2 straight relegations in 96/97 and 97/98

They say these things come in two's....oh no hang on thats three's isn't it

blimey what I'd give for a three

38 I think!

You'd be right there. Torquay occupied the 4th relegation spot last season and were relegated on goal difference with 51 points.

I reckon we could be half way to that sort of total by early November at this rate.

I can confirm that AD is living on past glories, but perhaps not for much longer!

P.S AD i've been watching the first part of the 91-92 season review and have seen a young David James in goal for Watford. I had to laugh when the narrator dubbed him as being in the 'million pound bracket', some shocking pieces of goal keeping
