So there will be a swipe procedure for normal tickets too?...No more handing the ticket over at the gate?...

Confused.

Oooohh, very Millennium Stadium esque!.

How many other teams have this swipe system in operation?

Is the system installed in the away end too?

I don't have a ticket for that game, despite being a STH, as the batch of tickets sent through stops this Sat. The question is Will I have a way of being let in??
They are sending out two more match tickets by Monday at the latest and then the swipe card goes live for Barnsley.

Ordinary tickets with the barcode on will work from Notts Forest.

Yep the system is in home and away teams.

More sides than you think have this system. WBA, Leeds, West Ham, Blackburn are a few that I can think of off the top of my head.

While people still slate the Club for behind the scenes things like the new ticketing system, the access control system and the Club's Customer Relations Management system put us at the forefront of many developments off the pitch.

We've had Arsenal and Blackburn looking at our CRM system in recent weeks as it's one of the best around.

To replace its paper ticketing systems, MCFC selected a contactless smartcard entry system from Fortress GB, integrated with the specialised TALENT Sport system from IBM Business Partner Software4Sport, running on IBM iSeries.

Smartcards, called CityCards, are now issued to fans, who can then book and pay for match tickets over the telephone or the internet – so no need to queue at the ticket office in future! On arrival at the stadium, fans simply hold their CityCard close to a radio-frequency identification (RFID) reader unit. This device identifies them, and checks against the database to see whether they have paid for admission to that particular match.

As fans are admitted to the stadium, real-time information is stored on Fortress GB’s Smart Stadium Management Server, and then delivered to stadium’s control room.

If a card is reported lost or stolen, it is deactivated, and the customer is given a replacement card. The cards are also effectively impossible to forge, enhancing security and protecting club revenues.

Glenn Jackson, Managing Director of Software4Sport, part of Computer Software Group (CSG), comments, “The new Smartcard solution will enable Manchester City to further improve its understanding of its customers to help drive new revenue, loyalty and ultimately provide a better football experience so that fans keep coming back for more.”

Software4Sport provides integrated ticketing, web-sales and CRM solutions for sports clubs and venues. The TALENT Sport system uses the iSeries as a foundation and an integration point for all business functions including ticketing, merchandising, corporate box sales, real-time Web sales, membership and loyalty programmes, so clubs such as MCFC can profit from economy of scale and a centrally managed, scalable and flexible solution.

Is that the sort of technology we're looking at?

That's very easy for you to say Dave but what's the use of the system if the date keeps slipping ? When the system is in and fully operational I think we can all appreciate the potential benefits.

I'm pretty sure the club must be doing all they can to prevent a recurrence of the situation at the start of the season but I can see a plethora of frustrated STHs next week (including Kev Maher's biggest fan) waiting with bated breath for two tickets to pop through the post.

Suggestion - Could the club have a DEDICATED window open on Saturday, before and after the game, for people that don't trust the postal route and may wish to pick up the next two tickets in person ? This will save some time, aggrevation and money and could be announced in the Echo and at HT for those who haven't heard the news.

I'd work for the club if they could afford my wages.

ORM - the CRM system is nothing to do with ticketing has been in place for 2 and a half years and it a sophisticated marketing and commercial tool.

Mr Wooly - yes it's a similiar system to that at Man City but we are using a different provider.

Also I get rather annoyed by the incorrect use of the word clique chucked around this board from time to time.

[b said:
Quote[/b] ]clique - A small exclusive group of friends or associates.
[b said:
Quote[/b] ]exclusive - Excluding some or most, as from membership or participation

The fact that a fair few of the people know each other on here is down the fact one way or another they have met up, be it once or many times. What I found is that the people I have met from here are not exclusive and are prepared to talk to anyone - for god sake they even talk to the General and believe me that takes some doing.
wink.gif

Also there is no 'in-crowd' just a bunch of people who meet up before a game. If anyone feels too shy and would like to meet up then pm me and I will arrange a time and place to introduce to the so called 'in-crowd'. And no this not an attempt at grooming ORM I will leave that to you!

If you still do not take the opportunity whenever you are able to please do not then blame us for your non participation.

Cool - Sounds good. I think we'll be the envy of many clubs if this is successful. Well done SUFC.

Ooops, sowwy. The rest of my post is still valid.

yeah it is clarky, unfortunately they've been absolutely slammed this morning as I just came back from up there and there's a massive queue. Keep trying though!
