Top man Andy Ansah played in a couple of my son James Staines memorial football matches. He was well loved by the southend fans.:thumbsup:

Always a joy to watch playing and a thoroughly decent bloke too, worth the entrance money just to see his tricky wing play.

I love this bit:

'Despite suffering relapses around every six months Andy went on to spend 14 years playing for lower-league clubs such as Brentford and Southend.'

SUFC, and Andy, were playing in the second tier. We were hardly lower league club for 6 years in the 90's.

He was a good footballer ...... at a time when Southend seemed to have more than their fair share.

At times I think Ryan Hall reminds me of him (on the pitch that is, not the community service etcetera .......)
