Enjoyed seeing three games in our fortnight's visit to Buenos Aires over Easter.

River Plate v Rafaela,Bocca V San Lorenzo and San Lorenzo v Gremio (Copa de Libertadores).

Had no idea SL were a BA team (apparently the Pope's team no less).Great atmosphere there too- easily comparable with that of Bocca.

One thing struck me in both the Bocca and SL home games.Every time there was a contentious free-kick the ref marked (with what looked like an aerosol spray) a white circle where the ball was to be kicked from and a white line which defenders had to stand behind.

My question is, are we likely to see more of this in the World Cup, or is it just an Argentinian thing?

Seems so unless they've changed there minds since.

The spray has been used for several years in Argentina and Brazil, where it is generally accepted that it has reduced the amount of arguing over where the wall should line up as well as preventing encroachment.
