Contract terminated by mutual consent.

Was a great servant for us in a very tricky time. Good luck Chris and thanks!

Great professional and a top bloke too, chatted with him several times while doing some filming at the club, would never pass without saying hello.

He will go down in our history books after captaining Southend in their first ever cup final.

Good luck for the future Barks!

Top bloke, top player and top pro. All the best at your new club Barks :Worthy:

I felt he could have done a reliable job for this season and been a sound bench/replacement across the back 4 when needed.
As has already been said on here; a top pro and a real nice guy too.

Best of luck to Chris Barker. Great lad and was a model pro on the face of it. Really superb player in his first season but I think his legs have gone a bit now and he cant get up and down like he did.

Sure he could be a decent CB for someone at a lower level.

Good move for all. Can't help but think he would have struggled to ever look fit if only playing a squad role at his age.

Guessing Brown is looking to bring someone in to replace Bennett while he's out and we'll need the squad place and wages.
Best of luck to Chris, loyal to the club and got us through a very tough time.

Quite surprised about this considering the injury news yesterday but fair play to Barker, done very well for us and a really decent bloke.
