Leeds have today listed Andy Robinson for loan. I'd suggest, as we've tried damn hard to sign him in the past, if Barney ends up heading North, we should try and get him till the end of the season with Leeds paying all of his sizeable wages. That way, if he flops, he's not costing us a whack.

I would fully expect Leeds to want us to take over the bulk of his wages. IN which case I'd say it's a no-goer.

I'm not too sure he's the player he once was anyway tbh.

I'm reading various people slagging Barny off for wanting to leave. Can you honestly blame him? He's had to contend with all the bollocks with the winding up. Late wages, a chairman that few trust any more & has let a decent squad weaken to the extent that we aren't much better than most teams in the bottom half of the League without Barny's goals.

Love the club or not, you wouldn't see my arse for dust if Leeds or Southampton came in for me! A tiny bit of the high life that he must of dreamt of whilst an apprentice at Spurs.

Oh there's no doubt he's not as good as he was in his Swansea pomp when we tried to sign him first time, but he'd still improve our lacklustre midfield no end.

I heard he was on £6k. But I've also heard that Leeds play hardball when it comes to wage contributions, and have done so with us! I expect that they would want the loaning club to take on 60% of his wages and we just couldn't afford that.

£200k seems incredibly low in my opinion. Yes, his contract is up in the summer, and yes our financial situation probably means people will try and pick players up cheap from us but I'd still be looking around £300k - £400k.

Perhaps £200k, additional fees like sell on, winning promotion etc and Patterson then we'd be talking.

I've heard nothing about any sell-ons so I couldn't really say. It would be odd for a Prem club to negotiate a sell-on with a lower league club, but who knows? Neither Spurs nor SUFC ever gave the ins and outs of the deal. We got him remarkably cheap though, due to his injury problems at Spurs I think. They might have still seen potential in him and thought that he'd do well for us if he overcame his injury problems, and that could have led to a sell-on clause being negotiated to make up for the relatively small fee.

If they do get 20%, my maths (not my strong point), on a 200K deal means that Spurs woumd get 33K (petty cash for them, really!). We would end up with 167K...........which, for us, is certainly not petty cash. Perhaps Ron could give them a post-dated cheque.............or pay them in Southend United shares.

I think it is illegal for a football club to own another club ;).

We don't know how the money will be paid. Installments, up front, clauses, sell on fee etc.

Yes, it has re-appeared and I can now apparently connect with Blues Player.

Whilst agreeing with many of the comments on here about Barney's value I think people have to be realistic about the parlous state of the club.

He can go for nothing in 6 months so anything is better than that to a club without any money & the other clubs know that. When was our last home game? How much has or wage bill been since then?

I've also been told today by somebody who had a real connection previously, that the club aren't at all happy with one player who's £150k transfer fell through (Franno, I presume) as they were utterly desperate for that dosh, have (or perhaps still haven't) paid the players late again & had the Walsall game gone ahead there wouldn't have been a programme (wonder why?).

As I said above the bloke had connection & still seems to have a deal of information but it is genuinely a bloke down the pub story.

So long as we stay up it's a good deal. If we go down, it might not be a good deal (as there's any guarantee that Barney would have made the difference).
