Quote[/b] (Wickford blues @ June 23 2004,13:48)]Whilst Griemink was a good shot-stopper, his distribution and command of his area was lacking, and at times he could be unpredictable. He was also prone to costly mistakes - during the early season slump in the 2002/2003 season, many of the goals conceded were put down to his errors, two clangers dropped against Colchester and one against Mansfield were particularly awful. With King unwilling to risk youngster Craig Farr in goal, Griemink kept his place, and when the Town started winning again, his confidence returned, and his form improved. He went on to miss just two league games - King giving Farr his chance in a couple of meaningless games at the end of the season.

Flahavan we want you back.
Here we go!

There is always the completely negative posting!

Flahavan was not good last season for a number of reasons and we are well rid!

Get over it!

Also, goalkeeping is a position where unfortunately you'll be often remembered for your mistakes above anything else - particularly lower league keepers. (But there are one or two current Premiership and International ones I can think of too)!

Let's not judge now, after one friendly or even a few games. Let's be radical and form considered and informed opinions of our own based on a player's performance for the team next season. And that goes for our new outfield players too.

Up the Blues!

Good signing Griemink will be.

While brush has said on offical sites flavs has been offered a new contract but on the same wage as last year. I for one hope he stays as he would be a very good back up goalie for us!

he is 32 years old, weight 15.4 and has been signed by Barry
JUDAS Fry when in charge of birmingham in 1995.
He is definitely someone for the future and he is a fine shoot
stopper that gets down well for a big man!
we'll see if he is that good in the air! we are slowly becoming
a cemetery for over thirties elephants, keep going lads....

Over 30 and a goal keeper is coming into his prime (like elephants probably). I Don't know how you can moan.

give the bloke a chance for our sake, he aint even stepped on the pitch yet ! It seems the thing to do what ever club you are at, to slag of your keeper. If we were to sign calamity james people would say about the mistakes he makes and not at the positives. whichever keeper we would have signed someone somewhere could point at a mistake or two he has made. if there was a keeper with ability without a history of mistakes down the line he certainly wouldnt be playing for southend, or any other team in the coca cola league. so for the time being im 100 % behind the new keeper, just give him a chance

The problem is it doesn't matter whoever we sign because it's not Darryl. It was the same last season, some of our brilliant fans could never accept that a ****ing, short arse, poor keeper wasn't at the club anymore and never gave Embo a chance from the off.

Now don't come out with all that sh*t about Flavs was better blah, blah, blah. I'm not saying Embo was better than Flavs but he deserved the support of the crowd whatever and the way the fans treated him was disgraceful.

The same will no doubt happen with Bart. But me I'd rather give him a try than an average keeper that cost us so many goals from not commanding his area last term.

And before you come out and say but what about the ones Darryl saved?

I'll tell you this. Just because a keeper flies through the air to make a save to make up for his lack of height as opposed to the easy and less spectacular simple save that most keepers would make it doesn't make them better.

And if Flavs has the audacity to come out and slate the club for the way they have treated him with the contract offer he's had then he might like to remember the last two seasons where he thought he was bigger and better than the club.

Could be a good signing. Let's hope he has a good start though, as he's very much a confidence inspired keeper.

I won't mention the fact i got the p*ss taken out of me for saying we should be signing a 6ft 4in keeper soon, yet it's actually happened.

It's one way to get your post count up though.

All the things that happened at Doncaster was because we lost so badly after looking like we actually had a chance and it obviously felt bad that dream was shattered in 90 mins. Embo was the scape goat which was wrong really, but I think that this will be different because Bart's not married to Tilly or Brush's sister so they have made a totally unbiased decision based upon I presume a wide spectrum of people who were close to Bart and knew of his class.

This is Steve Mildenhalls (Notts County keeper) view on Griemink:

"So how do the two ‘old boys’ rate Town’s chances this year and what do they make of Bart Griemink?"

Mildenhall actually ousted Griemink from the Town side in the latter half of the 2000-1 campaign and he has nothing but praise for the Dutchman.

He said: “The first thing to note about Bart is that he is a very, very big man. He fills the goal and that’s something opposing forwards don’t like to see.

“He is also a terrific shot-stopper and certainly during my time at the club he kept the team in matches when they were under the cosh.

“I think young Craig Farr can learn a lot from Bart this year.”

uhm, we shall see! in case he is c**p we can always call Flav's back. I guess he has come recommended by that dutch
goalkeeper coach that was with LEE TURNER on the goalkeeping licence course( POZNA) at lilleshall.
time will tell...

Well one minute we have no keepers and then, like London buses, three turn up at once!
Being stuck out in Wiltshire now the Swindon supporters in my local have nothing but praise for young Bart.  If he gets a good start I think he'll be a real asset.  Lets be fair, Tilson and Bush have done little wrong so far.
