I live in Leigh and when watching regional news expect stories affecting my local area. However, in my front room I receive BBC London and in my back room receive BBC South East. Front room offers news and sport concerning London and the back rounds up the stories and sport in Kent and Brighton.

My girlfriend lives in Bedford and she receives BBC Look East. Her news gives all the latest goings on in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridge and Essex including a round up of the mighty Blues.

Why the hell cant I receive this when I clearly live in Essex? Can anyone that lives in the Southend or Castle Point Boroughs receive BBC Look East? (excluding manually selecting it on Sky)

It seems that south Essex is right on the BBC’s regional edge and perhaps would be better off placing our news and sport in with either the London or South East region – where we’ll actually be able to view it!

Maybe its just me, we’ll see with the poll results – assuming you live in the Southend or Castle Point Borough what BBC region do you receive?

i'm in southend about ten minutes walk from the ground and get BBC London although this is through cable who on itv have London, Meridian and Anglia.

The problem is that , Whilst every stereotypes Essex based on the estuary area, it is the southernmost border of the county and probably further from the Essex transmitter than any of the others

I get Look East, which is a blessing, as the stories are about Pigs running wild on the A12 and wether wind farms kill migrating geese or soemthing.. Much more bearable then some South London stabbing story... Mind you there does seem to be a lot of people killed on the railways on look East

I get BBC Look east, news from Southend.... sport however I get Mc Donkeys and Northampton.... :(

This is a map of all BBC transmitters (analogue)

This would certainly explain why we pick up Lonndon or South East rather than Look East which by the looks of the things seems to be in Ipswich. Hmmm not so local, local news.

no such thing, thats to do with ITV. below are the 12 BBC regions according to wikipedia

BBC North East and Cumbria
BBC North West
BBC Yorkshire
BBC Yorkshire and Lincolnshire
BBC East Midlands
BBC West Midlands
BBC East
BBC West
BBC South
BBC London
BBC South East
BBC South West

BBC East then.....I think Anglia is ITV.

I should really pay more attention to what I am watching. Its a shameful and shocking habit I have and I should try much harder in future. :p

Actually it is in Sudbury but closer to Ipswich than Southend.

I get BBC London, but if I point the aerial towards Wakering then I get BBC East and then if I point it towards the SS Montogomery - I can watch BBC South East.

Yep if you have Sky you can get any BBC regional news that you want, they start at channel 971 onwards just after all the porno channels:minger:

I meant as the main one on Ch101 :thump: although it is nice having those other BBC channels as well - just need to remember to press the Up button when scrolling through the channels if the folks are round :D :p
