Following thread about players who have already played at Wembley - I guess this is pinnacle for most players.

So which of our former and current players achieved the most in their career? (Not including managers because Moore would top the lot)

I think we need a points system to find out who are most successful

What can be achieved:

Played in Europe
Premiership winners
Division winners
Caps
Caps whilst at Southend (Doubled)
Promotions
Promotions whilst at Southend (Doubled)
FA Cup winners/runners-up
League Cup winners/runners-up
JPT/LDV winners/runners-up
Trips to wembley

So, before we start scoring, let's work out a scoring system.

I suggest the following:

Played in Europe - 20 points per appearance
Premiership winners (or foreign equivalent) - 15 points per win as squad/first team player
Division winners - 10 points per win as above
Caps - 1 point per cap
Caps whilst at Southend (Doubled cap point)
Promotions - 5 points per promotion as above
Promotions whilst at Southend (Doubled promotion point)
FA Cup winners/runners-up - 20 points as winner/10 as runners up
League Cup winners/runners-up - 10 as winner/5 runners up
JPT/LDV/Autoglass winners/runners-up - 5 winner/2 runners up
Trips to wembley - 2 points per appearance

So, someone like Pat Scully:

League of Ireland winner in 1999/2000 - 15 points
2 European appearances for Shamrock - 40 points
Autoglass finalist - 2 points
Wembley trips - 1 - 2 points
Promotion whilst with Southend - 10 points

Total - 69 points

Is it worth extra points if they have played in Prem?

No - the Prem is rubbish.

Francisco Cagigao - 18,987 points.

Whelan only got 53 caps.

But also 3 FA Cups, 3 League Cups (and one League Cup runner-up), and 6 League Titles, oh and a European Cup (23 appearances in total), plus 5 Charity Shields.

So, erm, 770 points.

Charity shield counts as a trip to wembley. If trip to wembley is part of major cup, then higher points count

Eddie Firmani

One promotion with Genoa; one foreign cup win with Genoa
for Inter Milan, 10 European apps (and 10 goals!)

221 points

But I might have missed more!

Hooper also played for Grays in the FA Vase, do we include that or the FA Trophy?
