isn't the rule that you can only play for 2 teams on a permanent contract in a calendar year?

I believe that is over the course of a season rather than a calendar year.

Really? I've not heard that before. And yet some players are loaned out time and time again over a season. I shall let this opportunity to rant about the bent loan system pass .............

Rarely do players get loaned out to 2 different clubs. It does happen, such as Bamford last season played for MK Dons and Derby, but it is rare.

if you leave/are released from a league/conference club outside of the transfer window, you cant sign for another one until the next window opens. this is why on leaving colchester on 2nd feb 2013 outside the window, he signed for histon rather than northampton who had been lined up.
