Can Southend handle the crowds?

I often wonder whether the Blues can withstand the pressure of having a big crowd in front of them.

To look at a whole season would take forever so instead I will look at the top ten attendances and the bottom ten attendances and see if there is any connection between crowd and result.

1- Nottingham Forest (A) 26,094: 1-4
2- Leeds United (A) 24,036: 1-4
3- Doncaster Rovers (A) 13,081: 1-5
4- Swansea City (A) 12,629: 0-3
5- Leyton Orient (H) 9,828: 1-2
6- Leeds United (H) 9,819: 1-0
7- Swansea City (H) 9,797: 1-1
8- Port Vale (H) 9,292: 1-1
9- Northampton Town (H) 9,286: 1-1
10- Carlisle United (H) 9,281: 0-1

___________

Of the top ten attendances of the season Southend managed to collect a total of 6 points from a potential 30. They lost all of the games with the top 5 attendances and only managed one win at home to Leeds.

Now for the bottom ten attendances.

1- Oxford United (H) 2,740: 3-0
2- Cheltenham Town (H) 3,084: 4-1 (aet)
3- Hartlepool (A) 3,217: 3-4
4- Cheltenham Town (A) 3,859: 1-1
5- Port Vale (A) 3,969: 2-1
6- Yeovil Town (A) 4,820: 3-0
7- Crewe Alexandra (A) 4,895: 3-1
8- Oldham Athletic (A) 5,151: 1-0
9- Bournemouth (A) 5,419: 4-1
10- Brighton (A) 5,652: 2-3

This is a vaste improvment compared to the bigger matches.

However obviously the bigger matches are better teams.

Not sure the whole vital website is for real!!

I think the team will handle it, not sure the ticket office will though :)

It's all gone a bit :offtopic:

Good research but logic largely dictates (with the exception of port vale at home) that the teams with larger attendances are near the top of the table, so are harder to beat. And that the lower attendance games are against worse sides so easier to beat? not so much stage fright as meeting our match in terms of opposition.

Look at the difference between the teams though, the best team in the second list was one that we lost against (Brighton) and only the big losses come away against the biggest and best teams which is a bit of a worry.

Surely it cant be. What the hell was the bit all about the hotel?

Ron Martin is an undoubted impresario and has already made sure there will be a hotel included in the stadium build. This is a revenue based decision and there will be no shortage of guests at the four star resort. Vital cannot confirm whether there will be a beach feature in the property but has been informed that Martin is yet to rule out such a scheme

This is truely ridiculous and if this site is really for real then stupid comments like that arent going to help the credibility of it!
