CD Javea - Unc's Updates

Unc has kindly penned a report from CD Javea's latest game. As most of you will be aware, Javea have a partnership with SUFC so these should prove interesting reading over the coming months. ANyway, over to Unc....

To set the scene, CD Javea made the hour long trip up the Costa Blanca coast to the small town of Benifaio about 15-20km from Valencia.

On a very wet Saturday night the game started at a very quick pace. Southend's James Lindie had made the starting line up for only the 2nd time this season and young Dan Harvey was in at right back. After the disappointment of the third Southend player - Tom Hopkins - who had returned to the UK this week I am sure both James and Dan have been on a bit of a low, but it did not show on the pitch.

Within 5 mins Javea had gone 1-0 up, both teams playing quick passing football within 6-7 mins Javea got a 2nd,the ball was played through the midfield put out wide on the left and a great cross was met when Southend's James Lindie rose a good 6-7 inches above both defenders and scored a great header - Javea's 2nd and his 2nd of the season.

5 mins later nthe ball was out wide again a cross came in half cleared to the edge of the box and Dan Harvey was there to fire home a great goal,it took a small defelection but it was going in no matter what - 3-0 to Javea.

The 2nd half was as good as the first end to end football with both sides hitting thewoodwork. Benifaio scored a really good goal to make it 3-1, before James Lindie again broke away using his pace and strength and fired in a great shot only to see the keeper stick out a foot to deflect it away for a corner.

Javea's fourth came from a good move James squared the ball for his strike partner Oniade to slot home. Benifaio scored another cracking long range shot to mae it 4-2, but both Dan and James worked hard for the team and Dan made some fantastic runs from fullback up the line and put in some great crosses.

Javea got a fifth 5-2 and in the last ten minutes James came off for a well earnt rest, Benfiaio got a penalty with a few minutes to go 5-3 and thats how the game finished.

Question: Why did Tom Hopkins return to the UK, and has he come back to Southend?

Tom went back for a few reasons the main one I think was he missed his family and his mates and found it very hard to settle in Spain,plus he only had a few games and most of them started on the bench,I hope Tom does get back in with Southend he is a great lad and having met his Mum and Dad he has a great family behind him,all the lads and Supporters at CD Javea wish Tom all the best.

More news from the lads in Javea...

CD Javea played Carlet at home on Sunday. A crowd of around 300 watched a very dull first period, halfway through which the visitors took the lead with a well taken goal. Both James Lindie and Dan Harvey started the game, James playing much of the time up front as the only striker, with Dan was at his usual right back spot.

Although Dan had a great game last week this week he was caught out of position a few times, and James was doing his best to hold the ball up. Half time 0-1 to the away team.
Second half was much better for the home team,a few strong words from manager Kenny Brown seemed to have done the trick and Javea played with much more pace and aggression and around 20 mins into the second half James Lindie was put through and took his time and scored a very well taken goal, making it two goals in as many games.

Javea could and should have taken all three points when Javi the talented midfielder had a shot that was 2-3 inches wide of the post in the last few seconds of the game, all in all a fair result in the end, and we look forward to the away trip to Alginet on Sat night.

Here's the latest from Spain...

Javea had what looked like a tough trip away on Saturday night to Alginet.

Both Dan Harvey and James Lindie had made the starting line up for the third week in a row and CD Javea got off to a flyer with a goal in the first few minutes from Onieva - 1-0 to the away team.

Although Alginet had a few chances it was Javea who had the best of the first half and could have gone in more than 1-0. It was bad news for Dan Harvey, he picked up a knock towards the end of the first half and was replaced at the start of the 2nd half, then it was over to James to show what he could do.

He set up Onieva for Javea 2nd and on 60 mins scored another well taken goal in what has been descibed by Presidente Mark Catlins words his best game yet for CD Javea.

3-0 was the final score,the only down side to the result was a red card for midfielder Paublo and a yellow card for midfield player Canari, they both miss Sunday's visit to the Camp De Football Javea from top of the table Oliva.

Latest update from Javea....

CD Javea played host to top of the table Oliva on Sunday night.

Both James Lindie and Dan Harvey started the game, even though Dan had spent most of the week back in the UK having some time with his family and James was at his most relaxed as his girlfriend had come out to see him and spent some TOGETHER time.

The game itself was one of the best I have seen at CD Javea for a long time with both sets of fans making as much noise as they could the game flowed from end to end with quick stylish passing football and 100% comitment from both teams. Oliva could have gone in at half time 1-0 up but the post saved Javea on this occasion.

The 2nd half was as good as the first it was like watching a game of tennis one minute the ball was at one end the next the other, but not with kick and rush football but with great passing and movement.

Then came one of those moments when you think "we've done it", James Lindie got the ball, flicked it over the defender's head Gazza style and hit a great shot, only for the keeper to pull off a good save. In the dying mins Scott hit the post again - we all thought it was going in, so it finished 0-0 but it was one of the best 0-0s I have seen for a long time.

Both lads played a part in a great game and we look forward to next week.

Latest CD Javea update

CD Javea had a one and half hour trip up to Olympic near Valencia on Sunday night. Olympic have been tipped to take the title this year and on this showing you could see why. They have a great local support - some 2,000 fans turned up for the game - and at this level of football that is a fantastic crowd.

The game started as have most this season at a very fast pace with both team creating good chances early on James Lindie having one of them for CD Javea.

Dan Harvey had been pushed into a more attacking midfield role (not his best position in my opinion) and after 20 mins the home team took the lead with a very well taken goal and that was the score at halftime.

Javea started the 2nd half like a team on fire and again had a good chance to get back in the game,but as the half went on the home teams pace and skill started to show and with a great spin and turn from the centre forward he left the Javea defence chasing shadows and put away a great shot.

From then in it was all Olympic and wave after wave of attack came and in the last ten mins they got a third. James Lindie came off with 15 mins to go, and that was how the game ended - 3-0 to Olympic.

You couldn't fault the lads commitment but some weeks you just have to hold your hands up and say we got beat by a better team, roll on Sunday when we are at home to Guardsuar who are just one point behind Javea in the table.
