Zone Update Chelmsford Away Pre Season

Villareal or West Ham...

Not sure they'd go for West Ham after last time to be honest.

I'd love Villareal thought. IF we play them, plus a decent footballing match against Ipswich, plus a tour of the local non-league circuit, and the Under 18 tournement will make for a very good pre-season in my eyes.

Pre-season isn't about matches we'd like to see, it's about getting the players fit after the summer, getting used to playing with each other again, and trying to get a bit of confidence and form going before the season proper starts.

Agree with that 99%.
However, as I said in my earlier post that got shot down, I don't think touring the local Essex non-league clubs plus a jaunt to Barnet is exactly the strength of teams we need for all of pre-season.

I quoted Ireland as an example as they've switched to summer football and so therefore any teams would would play are match fit.

But the teams in Ireland are rubbish the standard of football is no different to that we are playing in pre season now.

As much as i would love a tour anywhere in the world i do enjoy playing local side plus we can have a laugh with the players

The standard of football in the Republic of Ireland may not be "world class", but it certainly has the edge over Essex non-league teams.
