Post-Match Thread and Ratings Chesterfield 2-2 Southend United

I saw the highlights which were put together by the home side and one never knows what was left out. On what I saw we were a little lucky to avoid defeat as they both hit the bar and missed a really good chance when heading over near the end. To me they shaded us although I accept that those highlights may not have been fully representative of what took place.
Nine times out of ten (I hope!) Arnold would have kept the first goal out. Had he done so the game might have turned out very differently.
We were also lucky with the penalty, as, on another day, the ball does not go in.
It is impossible to enjoy a long unbeaten run without some good fortune.
As already hinted at by others it is time for one of our opponents to receive a 4-0 thrashing.
Tonight would be a good time for that to happen.

As far as I‘m aware that’s not how it works.
Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offending player is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.) the offending player must be sent off.

Yellow was correct imho

We weren't lucky by any means. When I left the stadium, plenty of locals stopped us and said well done, you should have won that. We were going for the winner at 1-1.

I think on reflection, a draw was probably about right. Which shows how far we've come and how feared we now are.
