According to the experts in my house it depends on the game you're playing. My son prefers all his football type games on either the XBox 360 or PSP for convenience, but both prefer to use the Wii for the Mario type games.

Nintendo games are too childlike, although the Wii is a great idea for playing with your mates.

Had playstationts up to PS2 never an xbox.

Wheres the option for PC though, always been a better gaming platform than the others but more expensive and I think is on a downward curve now consoles are so huge.

If I were going to get one Id probably go for an Xbox 360 but a Wii would be good for the kids.

Over the years I have owned:

Intellivision
Atari 2600
Atari Jaguar
Sega Megadrive
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast
SNES
Nintendo 64
Nintedo gamecube
Nintendo Wii
Playstation
Playstation 2

Also

Commodore PET
Commodore VIC20
Commodore 64
Commodore Amiga
Acorn BBC B
Mattel Aquarius

Most have been eBayed to make space however I still own the Wii, N64 PS2 and for C64s!

The MegaDrive was fantastic, i was hopelessly addicted to PGA Tour Golf, it was fairly simple though still challanging .. i find a lot of games these days have overdone the technology and become sooo complicated .. or maybe i'm just growing old ungracefully :(

I agree I can't be bothered with a lot of the new games, as good as they look etc I'd rather spent my evenings doing something else.

Remember PGA well and I have it on emulator with hundreds of other games.

Desert strike was one of my favourite games on the Mega drive...

PS2 and Wii..........would like a PS3

Olympics for Wii is great entertainment but if you complete all events it is pretty hard work....have had a sore arm since playing it...although that me because i am an old git
If you get a PS3 AS, let ozzy or I know if you fancy a game and a chat online sometime.

i'm at that annoying stage... i would love a wii because they are sociable and great fun, and pro evo looks really good. however i would ultimately like to get the new GTA and 'proper' pro evo and so waiting for the price to fall on the playstation3 might be an option. i would need a new tv anyhow!
I got mine from HERE although admittedly I did get the 60gb and it cost £300. Free next day delivery if you order before 5pm ;)

I have a PS3 :)
That's pretty class.

Sold hubby's old pristine mega drive with sonic 1,2 and 3 for about £25 a couple of years ago and Desert Strike and Jungle Strike for a fiver each at a boot sale a couple of years ago. You actually get more for a mega drive game than you do for a PS2 game these days!

Difficult question. But for me at the moment it has to be the PS3. I use it as a games console, Blu-ray player, and streams HD movies from PC onto my telly!

But as a games console I prefer the 360 coz of the joypad.

Own a 360 but have played on the PS3 also. Graphics are very much samey samey but overall prefer the 360 for two reasons.

1. The joypad on the 360 is a superior design and more comfortable than the PS3's

2. Xbox 360 Live absolutely stomps all over Sony's attempt at on line gaming. COD4 on 360 Live rocks.

Until Blue Ray becomes the industry standard on the high street I'm not too bothered about the 360 being HD High Def only and I'm happy with the 360's ability to upscale ordinary DVD's to virtually Hi Def 720p resolution.

As an aside, Microsoft are in talks with Sony to supply a Blue Ray player (as they hold the patent) in a new updated version of the 360 for release in late 2008 or early 2009.

Interesting Gilbo. Regarding your streaming of movies onto your PS3, do you do it via the clever windows media player function, making use of a wireless router? I can't remember the exact term, but I found out about it yesterday.

Slightly off topic, but Fred's post remind me of a story where I mate of mine ran an ethernet cable from his wireless router to his PS3. He drilled several holes in several walls before he was told that the PS3 is wireless :D
