The abuse towards the players needs to stop. No player goes out wanting to play bad! Dickinson in fairness didn't have his best game and the abuse he was getting was so unfair for the man who has scored our most goals.

However, Please can we get a new LB? Gilbert's ratio of passes to finding opposition defenders and CB must be 9/10?

I heard it all last night, one fan shouting Gilbert off, one shouting we need a new keeper, one that Dickinson was lazy, and one that we need a whole new midfield... I'm just as frustrated at the form as everyone else and driving all the way from London every week don't help but I agree its got to stop. I thought we were excellent for the first 30 minutes, their goal was lucky, and there keeper made 3 world class saves, so why had the abuse already started?? Morris, dicko, timlin, Gilbert, and even hall were getting bad abuse, this is turning home games into away games.

Fed up of this. The only thing stopping me from going ****ing mad is that everyone is there supposedly supporting the team, the same as me.

It's a ****ing joke.

You barrack and gear Paynter/Harold etc out of the club who didn't do much, but then you do it to our top scorer aswell?

Are you actually ****ing serious?

Cheering when he goes off??? WHAT?

I am actually hearing abuse when he looks like he will lose the ball but then plays it, people still abuse.

I really cannot believe this ****ing disease that some of you have got. I am so ****ed off about it.

I appreciate that if the players aren't performing then BOO (if you really ****ing have to at half time and after the game) but we are 3rd in the league.

You are a disgrace.

Waiting for any moment at all to criticise and shout abuse at a player? You aren't ****ing fans of this club, you can't be.

You should be ashamed of yourself if you are one of those 'fans'

I honestly do not understand what some of you think. Just do one. You are a joke

:nope:

Well said that man. There is an element of our support that are an absolute disgrace. Mind you it never changes - I remember the abuse that 'useless' Mark Gower used to get, and where's he now? I must admit I see the team away more than I do at home, but how anyone can slag off Liam Dickinson is beyond me - he's about as good as anyone forward I've seen at this level - if this standard isn't good enough for you, go find a premier team to follow. Gilbert too - certainly not our best player this season, but the only left back we really have, so get on board.

Also, everyone was anti hoofball. Have you noticed what's happened since we started playing less of it?

4700 odd home fans for game that could see us retain top spot. That hurts the club more than any booing or jeering of our own players. The fact is weather or no weather crowds would be a lot higher if we played the kinda football that our rivals play. Shrews crawley swindon and cheltenham have all given us a serious footballing lesson.

That figure would include all season ticket holders and who knows how many of those did not attend last night.

Rather than Discussing about it on here, how about next time a fan near you needlessly barracks a player turn round and tell them to shut up?

I thought the attendance figures were calculated by how many actually apss through the turnstiles at each game. Not on the number of match tickets or for that matter season cards pre purchased.

Y'know what annoyed me most about last night? We were told before the game that one or two would be dropped as they were under-performing. Naturally we all thought that meant one or both of Barker and Gilbert but no Sturrock drops one of our best players from last week Martin instead! Unbelievable......

I've said it for weeks now, stick Martin and Hall out wide and play Mohsni through the middle. With deliveries like that from both sides Bil would have a field day! And when Martin doesn't play then all the opposition have to do is double up on Hall and we create nothing. With Martin on the other flank it gives the opposition a big problem - yes they can double up on Hall but it will leave more space for Martin on the other wing. Anyone with half a brain can see that - why can't Sturrock? Martin is an exceptional signing and kudos for getting him in.....now we need to play him ffs.

They include all season cards H in the match total ..Jobbo told me that himself and why sometimes the crowd looks smaller than the total given out.

I had my season ticket in the South Upper for two seasons (the seasons we won League one and were relegated from the Championship) and all I had every week was a couple of older guys sitting behind me slagging off every player they could it was pathetic and annoying! And after 2 years of it I eventually turned round and said if you wanna moan and dont like it then dont bother coming!

I dont see the point of slagging off your own players especially as we are 3rd in the league atm. I have not been able to get to hardly any games this season as I play on Sats and have not had the money either but when I saw Dickenson play I thought he was poor IMO he had no first touch and was pretty poor in the air considering his size (This is an opinion from only a few games I maybe wrong) but I still wont boo him as he has been scoring goals and doing his job for us!

Absolutely spot on!!!!!!!!!!! agree 100%!!!!!!!!! Ashamed to be a supporter at times at RH, yet love away games where we ALL get behind the team. I sit not far from the dugout at RH, so ALWAYS call out words of encouragement to the players who have just been substituted (like Dicko last night)...makes me feel better letting them know that we are not all of the same "mind". It is bad enough losing a game, without feeling animosity towards fellow "supporters" too!

Having met some of the players outside the game and speaking to them you sense they seem a bit unsure of your response to them.
I do wish we would get behind all players at Roots Hall & not just away games.
Ido think the players are out of order not to acknowledge the fans at the end of the games.

I wasn't there last night, but the abuse I've heard on my travels is just ridiculous and baffling. Even when we were top of the league, certain players were targetted by so called supporters.

I just don't understand the mentality of people of who seem to enjoy shouting abuse for 90 minutes. No doubt these people think it is their 'right' because they've paid for their seat, but they would be better off staying at home in my opinion.

Sturrock has made some mistakes, playing Grant in front of Hall at Shrewsbury jumps out of me. But the dissenters must take their share of responsibility too. If the team don't like playing at Roots Hall because of the treatment they get from parts of the crowd, despite their lofty league position, then it is partly their fault if we fail to get a play off place.

Quite right - I feel ashamed at some of the rubbish that gets shouted at our players. This is a 2 way street, and if our own players dont like playing in front of our own 'support' how can they be expected to deliver on the pitch? I know we haven't been brilliant at home recently, but we're never going to win every game, so for God's sake lets try all try to play our part and do what we can to help. I know it's probably a minority that abuse the players, but it's the bad comments that will stick in their minds.

I agree that jeering the players during the game is not going to help them. I have no problem with people Discussing to those around them but no-one is going to do their best with thousands of people on their back. I am less concerned about people showing their feelings when someone goes off. Dicko was poor last night and it was a relief when he went off. It was far too late in my opinion as he had an off day.

For the record I am a PS fan and still think we are really lucky to have him but he got it wrong last night. We should have been 442 from the start with Sampson up front. It seemed that when we were getting the ball in the box, unless Bilel was there we stood no chance of getting it. I thought Mohsni was immense with some superb long balls out of defence and they couldn't cope with him from set pieces. Granty just couldn't get to the pace of the game whereas his quick feet normally draw the fouls and bring others into the game. I increasingly think our success correlates to how much we get Clohessy taking on their LB. When he can overlap with a RM such as Hall he gets in dangerous positions and puts the ball in the danger zone. We are not playing to that tactic at the moment.

Barracking and abuse of the players is bang out of order. Regardless of the performance fans are deliberately abusing the same individuals.

Morris - has been a great keeper for us up until the last few games but I believe he may still be suffering from that discolation

Dickenson - Gives 100% effort, cant fault his workrate at all and at this stage of the season he has 12 goals. Not to shabby.

Timlin - our most battling centre mid who is keeping granty out the team. He is not a winger and needs to be playing in the middle so support him. Through a number of his performances this season he deserves to be there.

Gilbert - I am not his biggest fan however right now who else do we have to play there? Prosser a option but clearly PS sees him as a back up. With any luck when Philips is fit again maybe we should go Clohessy, Phillips, Bilel and Barker at the back.

Consider the state of affairs we were in last season we have had a great season and its the players who deserve the plaudits. Every team has a slump in the season and if anyone can turn it around PS CAN.

As everybody seems to agree that it has to stop, next time you hear it, tell the meat heads that are shouting it to shut their faces!
Why can't we all kick it out, if you hear it, stand up and put them in their place, we do not need it!

I don't condone abusing and barracking the players, but why can't fans express their frustration when the same thing keeps happening like Gilbert's missed place 'passes'. I shouted at him for the passes that kept going straight to their players, but clapped him when he did something right. how can we cheer the players for not performing well? wouldn't happen in any other work place would it!! Just wont some passion by the players, a tackle or chasing down of one of the other teams players would help the crowd get in to the game rather than moan at the players

This is what totally puts me off going to the hall, used to go for a good sing song and a good night, just find myself frustrated with all the negativity round the place, next season whatever league were in........... away games for me !!
