Deadpool 2023

International cricket missed a golden era of SA players Proctor, Clive Rice, Ken McEwan, Barry Richard to name just four due to apartheid, so sad they never got to prove them selves especially against a dominant WI teams
Doubt they would have got near the WI team. West indies had 2 rebel tours there in the 80s with a second string and drew the 1st test series and won the 2nd. Would highly recommend the book the unforgiven about the west indies rebel tours, the guys who went all ruined their careers and in some case their lives.

I know he'd been unwell for some time but the finality of it still hits.

I recall Stan playing for Carlisle against us in the FAC in the early '70s and he and Bob Hatton scored their goals to put us out. I don't recall specifics much more than that but I was lucky to see him in that great QPR side of the mid-seventies several times and his play with Gerry Francis was a delight to watch. I've been reminded of him several times more recently when he's popped up on 'The Big Match Revisited'. A great natural talent who didn't seem at all phased by the occasion. Quite a nice moment in this doc. when he talks about feeling safe on the pitch as he couldn't be harassed by his creditors there.
