Hey everyone,

With the new signing of Mr Campbell-Ryce, who today scored a screamer and assisted Bentley for the second, it seems we now have very good cover up front and in the middle of the park. However we seem to be lacking at the back in regards to cover. We have several excellent defenders but cover is still needed. Spinner and Eagle are no spring chickens anymore and Che has no real competition at left back. Who would people like to see in because it seems one or two more loan signings in at the back would give the squad a great depth and give it that extra strenth to push for promotion (maybe).

We definitely need left sided (full back) defensive cover. My choice would be Matt Lockwood, but that will probably not happen.

Therefore a youngster on the books of a Championship or Prem club may be the way to go. Although i see that Matt Wright is still around playing for the reserves this afternoon.

I would like to see a defender or two.

The goals that have been scored against us this season have all been very similar, a ball down the left or right side of the box, a cross comes in, someone lays it off for a player who steams in unmarked from the middle of the park and smashes it in from the edge of the box.

Now that is partly the defense and midfields fault so maybe we need a defender and we need to get the centre mids like guts and maher tracking players runs a little better.

Yup, I reckon a left-back would be fine too - Prior on the bench, plus Hunt to fill in at CB if it gets desperate....no point signing someone on loan and then not even put them on the bench.

Unless of course we can find anyone better than what we already have at CB - unlikely?

Does anyone know how the trialist Mark Wright is getting on? Watched him a couple of times in pre-season and he wasn't bad, although distribution was a little poor.

Watched Mark Wright today and have seen him throughout pre-season and last weeks reserve match. Not a fan, just doesn't look like he could fill in for Wilson should be pick up a suspension or a knock. Reminds me very much of a poor mans Neil Jenkins, and he was poor.

As I've already said, I think Petts could play at left back.

Wright is now officially a Youth Player so it seems. A left back is an obvious thing to look at but I'm not so sure Tilly sees it that way. I really can't see Jupp or Hunt filling in there all that well though.

I wouldn't say we've got good cover up front at all. Campbell-Ryce is NOT a striker. We've still got 3 out and out strikers and as time goes on we obviously don't know how Goater's fitness will fair and it wouldn't be right to expect Lawson to put in too many of the performances he did against Oldham. We still need another striker IMHO and that should be the main thing that we look into.

Yup - a left back is a priority. Che is solid but not a natrual left back, and he heas no competition so is almost assured a place every week. CB is ok, though we may need one next term as Spinner and Eagle age...

Could do with another forward though it's not a massive priority.

And Pettefer isn't a left back, and I don't really think he'd make adequate cover for the position....
