Question Devon / Cornwall

Look anywhere around the North Devon coastline such as Barnstaple, some cracking Beaches around Woolacombe & Ilfracombe area.

Try Australia got some great beaches , the outback is amazing too, shopping for the wife is great and the kids would love the Gold coast and WARNER BROTHERS MOVIE WORLD ,as you and the wife would too, if you like crocodile hunting well go to the Northen territory,Fishing is great here also, and the women on Bondi Beach ,mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Thanks not sure if you saw my wording which read "a long weekend" but I will give it some thought.

Bude's great, or at least it was the last time I was there, and no childhood is complete without a visit to Wookey Hole on the way there/back.

Hello all,

We have a holiday booked to Spain for the early summer (June) but thinking I might fancy a long weekend in Devon/Cornwall with the wife/kids in August sort of time.

We went to Croyde a few years ago and I have been to Newquay a few times. Just wondered if anyone else can recommend anywher. Looking for family resort and nice beaches please?

Cheers
Dave

Hey Dave - just given this a bit more thought. Perranporth could be the one for beach and family resort.

Great pub on the beach where kids are welcome, The Watering Hole. Not too far from Newquay airport either and I think they're flying from Southend to there again over the summer.

The only place to stay if you have young kids:

Bedruthan Steps Hotel

Book early or you won't get a suite. The rooms are fine, but with a suite the kids will be in a separate room, allowing you to sleep. The spa is superb, as is the nursery, soft play, playgrounds, kids menus in the restaurants, kids' evening entertainment etc etc. This place is geared up for kids. There's also a huge amount to do around there.

Not just any someone.

Ha ha. Sorry was skimming in a hurry last night. Perranporth has something for everyone and may look crowded to the uninitiated. Plenty of accommodation from camping to chalets, rental homes and hotels. The town is fairly commercialised but not tiringly so but the gem is the beach. Featured on Coastguard on BBC but that doesn't do it justice. Brilliant when tide is in. Awesome when the tide is out and you can go exploring. Only downside is it is a dog friendly beach but don't let that put you off. Probably been there 7 or 8 times in my lifetime last 2 years back when based in Bude.

Jersey is a lovely place to go but expensive, I stayed in a hotel call Mayfair which was reasonable but it wasn't the best hotel in the world but it done the job, as for Cornwall Crantock bay is a lovely place to stay which is just outside Newquay, also not near a beach but is lovely is a place called Hengar manor which is in a place called St Tudy. Also look up a place Bossiney farm that's just outside tintagel.
