Hello each. I have some ParCan LED stage lights and need a DMX controller to use them the way I want.
Problem is, what does a DMX do and how can I use it? I know nothing about them, as you may have guessed.

The only thing I know about DMX is that it allows you to control the lights from the lighting board (computer) in a theatre. The controller is basically the computer.

Why have you got LED Parcans? They're used in stage lighting, and don't have that great a range, which is why they're usually on the LX bars (i.e. the lighting bars directly above a stage) rather than the front of house and advanced bars (i.e. the lighting bars above the audience).

Also, if your lights are truly theatre lights then the plug won't have a fuse. The reason is that a theatre runs off 15amp plugs rather than the standard 13amp plugs; these don't have a fuse because the fuse is housed in the lighting channel rather than in the actual light. This is because it makes it easier to change the fuses since they're all housed in one room backstage.

"Why have you got LED Parcans? They're used in stage lighting" - that's exactly what I want!

Blimey. I never thought I would be quoted out of context anywere, let alone on Shrimperzone. Please read the whole sentence.
