End of Teletext

Tomorrow, Teletext on ITV and Channel 4 on Sky will shut down and then the services on ITV and Channel 4 on Freeview and on ITV, Channel 4 and Five on analogue will be switched off on Tuesday.

Now, Teletext wasn't a patch on good old Oracle, but it's the end of an era and a link back to the days when that was the best way to find out the latest footy scores and updated league tables.

Ceefax and digital text will still continue on BBC channels, but the old TV set just won't seem the same without a text option on all the main channels.

Goodbye Teletext

It's a shame it's going, though IMO, it isn't as good as CEEFAX, it was still a better service than digital text.

Whats difference in Teletext and Ceefax then?

Ceefax is/was developed by the BBC, and Teletext and its predecessor Oracle was on the commercial stations.

Sad but inevitable in this age I guess. Are they being replaced with anything?
