Essex CCC 2019

ex loanee Robbie White played for Middlesex 1st team recently, albeit as a specialist batsman (struggled).

No Cook and Amir hasn't received his visa clearance yet (despite already being in the country for the world cup).

My best guess is that we'll line up something like this

1. Delport
2. Chopra
3. Lawrence
4. Westley
5. Bopara
6. Wheater
7. RtD
8. Walter
9. Harmer (c)
10. Snater
11. Zampa

Quinn or Beard could play ahead of Snater.

Off to Lord's tonight for my first to the home of cricket in a few year's.

Will be happy with a fraction of the drama there on Sunday as long as we get off to a winning start..

Leaving for Lords shortly first trip there since 2015 come on Essex!

Can’t see Cook playing tbh.
Probably a bit of me time back on the farm.

A little bit cruel to say this given he's carried Essex for 2 years in this format, but Chopra cannot be the future in T20.

We have too many batsmen with strike rates of around 120. Only Tendo is a strong hitter and moving him to 4 is a positive step. Delport is a good signing given he scores at a quicker strike rate than most of our players. He should open with Lawrence, who has the most potential upside with a good SR, has all the shots and should benefit from having the field up in the first 6. I know he had a small stint at the top and failed a couple of years ago, but we should back him. We only need to look at the likes of Phil Salt and Tom Banton to see what talented kids can do with a run.

Ravi should be treated as the bowling all-rounder he now is in T20 but we lack other high SR options and need to play a WK, so we haven't any option but to bat him at 5-6. The less said about the bowling attack in this format, the better.

Short story: The balance of the T20 team needs a lot of fixing.

I said to my son last night, we have too many pinch hitters, quick flay of the bat , few runs and out, we need a player to stay for a duration, we cannot play the Aussie way as a county team
Agree re bowling County Championship is so different to OD and it shows when T20 format comes into play

Long way to go in T20 but not best start, will admit cricket crowds are brilliant, sitting with Middlesex fans and banter brilliant without any fear of a punch up and with drinks being served and anyone that tried was quickly told to shut up and sit down by those around

Think as a County we are doing brilliant, look at the crowd last night at Lords around say 19,000 ( That may have been low in my view as an estimation)and the money it generates compared to maximum 6000 at ECG on T20 night

Going tonight but the weather forecast isn't looking great at the moment

T20 success IMHO would be a bonus. We are set up for the red ball, and being Old School myself, much prefer it that way. COYE.

I agree county championship more important in my opinion

Amir not playing today, still a visa issue.

How has that happened? He's been in the flipping country for two months!
