So Espanyol live to fight another season in La Primera after a rather drab 1-1 draw against Osasuna.

The last game at the Nou Camp looks a bit tasty though.

Atleti really ought to have clinched it last night. Amazing save by Willy in injury time to deny Villa, but Atleti had plenty of opportunities otherwise.

That game next weekend should be a cracker; shame it clashes with the FA Cup Final. I'd like to watch both, but imagine I'll be following the Spanish game.

Sergio (González) has just been appointed as Espanyol's new manager.

Here's hoping Sergio has as much success for the club as a manager that he did as a player back in the day.

Uncle Leo, I see Espanyol have signed Salva Sevilla from Betis on a three year deal.

Is he any good?

I'm afraid I only had eyes for Verdu last season.Espanol badly need some creativity in mid-field.

Decent enough, but don't get too excited!

Never happened for Verdú last year, he was a total flop. A shame, as I was pretty pleased when he signed, but for some reason it never clicked for him (or indeed the entire team).

Funnily enough I was reminded yesterday of last summer's friendly between Fulham and Betis at Craven Cottage. A decent game between what seemed like two pretty good sides. If you'd told me then both were to get relegated I'd have assumed you were on the wind up!

Spanish fixtures came out yesterday.Better late than never I suppose.

Espanyol's forst home game is at home to Sevilla on the 31st August.I'll be there.

Real Betis may be have a pony team, but the fans are great. Over 33,000 season tickets sold for a team in Segunda is amazing.
