Nope opening the south costs the club for the FA cup game around £500

The North costs around £50

Figures I was given by Jobbo Tuesday

Oh, seeing as it's only that much then they might as well just open the whole stadium.

Can anyone answer the question why we don't play towards the North Bank in the second half of a game....esp as we're usually playing "catch-up" at home...
Is it as simple as we lost the toss, or that the team don't give a toss?
To answer the thread; My thoughts are 2 sides full-ish is surely better than few and far apart...

Who gives a toss what way we shoot? We're still inept!

Agreed with that

Our ground holds about 12,500. The away team are entitled to 15% of the tickets available. Let's assume that, with all stands open, 11,500 seats are available (1,000 for segregation, freebies etc) then Stockport would be entitled to 1,725 tickets. If we close the South Stand and lose 2,500 seats then Stockport are only entitled to 15% of 10,000, or 1,500 seats.

This is a cunnng plan to reduce the number of away fans at the game, whilst making 100% sure all Southend Fans can be accomodated. It also saves money on stewards, security staff, etc. It's a win win!
Stockport will bring nowhere near 1750 or 1500 anyway so it doesn't make a difference

So the question needs asking, if we had a whip round and raised the £50 could we have the North Bank open?

I'd happily stick in a fiver as I'll be getting my ticket for a fiver anyway, and I'm sure quite a few of the regular ST's in the North would be prepared to do so......

because the South Stand is the home end.

You do get a much better atmosphere at that end of the ground in the second half when the team are kicking that way.

Wtf. So for £550 they can open both ends.

Just open them then, thats ridiculous.

The neagativity the issue has raised on its own should be reason enough to open the stands IMO . Through into the mix the fact that i only takes 5 people not to turn up becasue of this and opening the North pays for iteself .BUT WORSE THAN THIS- this is the FA cup , if we win who knows who we might get next round (and potentially the round after) . There could be a pot of gold round the corner. Sturrock apprciates the nosie from the North as helping the players therefore open it FFS, in a tight game maybe, just maybe it could make the difference. Absolute worse case the club has never said that the North creates a problem for the players

Am seriously contemplating going away for the weekend if the South is going to be shut.

Besides the annoyance to those who want a decent view, it sends out completely the wrong message. Way to market this game.
