Here we go again....

Another toughie for me, my opponent has one uber-batsman of 100k+ and a host of 5 figure players. Fortunately they played out a long haul draw in their last FC outing and also fielded a full strength team in the cup so only one of their top 8 players is on sublime fitness.

We'll once again chance a weakened batting line up to protect the trainees, this team though I'll be mixing the weaker batsmen around the order after repeated cases of two wickets falling in quick succession last week. Cracked pitch so I'm not expecting a 3 dayer, was tempted to change seeing as I'm at home but I need cracked for Friday so I've left it alone.

Also noticed today that my first team now contains no worthless fielding players and only one abysmal (Mushy is my Panesar!). Happy with that, particularly with two of three woefuls training fielding at the moment.

I'm playing golf tomorrow so will miss much of the day's play anyway. BB, if you get the chance a couple of email updates would be cool. Cheers.

playing the Mighty Oaks. No player above 9,500 which suits me. However, they do have a bigger squad so fitness could be an issue for me.
They have one good spinner and a decent bat, nothing special. Level V team for only one season, so shoud be an even match

To start of, my oppo has a squad of 22, although looking at some of the BTR's they do have a fair few 6 figure players who dont look like they will cause too many problems. My main issue is that Raven is short on fitness and it looks like im going to have to rest him. He obviously bowled alot last week in the FC match and got his highest ever score when we batted and has thus taken it out of him. This will mean Jackman is going to have to carry our bowling attack along with Guy bowling alot of overs. Im not sure who is going to replace Raven though. I was thinking of playing another specialist bowler but without Raven, im going to be a little short on the batting front. Going to look to bat first i think and hope to set a good total.

On B's point, Akram is my only player with worthless fielding!

I'm playing a team called Up the Irons, so presumably their manager is a hamster so I won't rest any of my players. They've got 7 players on wages of £13k, inlcuding one superstar on £40k with a battrick rating of 100,000+ (the only 100,000+ BTR in my first class league). They've also got a fitness advantage over me.

Its going to be a long season.

Green pitch and overcast weather forecast means I want to win the toss and field.

As stated earlier, I'll need to see how everyone is looking tomorrow before finalising my side. I've also got a tough OD game on Friday, so a delicate balancing act needed. Oppo squad only has one player over 21k BTR, and his PFL is Moderate, so on ratings alone I should be looking at a win

Oppo normally plays a 5 man seam attack on a Green pitch, so with the forecast as Sunny tomorrow, and Cloudy/Humid on Wednesday, will need to win the toss and bat 1st, especially as all of his bowlers have PFL ratings between Moderate and Invigorated. This would also (hopefully) give my bowlers another day's rest ! (obviously depending on Evelyn getting his **** in gear !)

Looking forward to it though !

Edit - Fielding wise, Lowest is generally Woeful, although Evelyn's is Worthless

B - No probs on the e-mails.

Up The Irons were in my OD league last season, I couldn't beat them :(

Got an easier game tomorrow, resting one bowler I think, but will wait until the morning to decide for sure.

My opponent, didn't take FC that seriously and drew the match, probably wants to hold onto his OD status after being promoted to III last season, if the same team plays against me, I should win, but knowing my team, I'll will probably draw. All batsmen are sublime fitness, lowest bowler is lively, 2 invigorated, 1 energetic and one sublime, after accidentally playing a full strength team in the cup yesterday. A dusty pitch as usual and sunny day tomorrow, I'll be aiming to bat first.

And no players on worthless fielding here too.

all on sublime fitness except one energetic- green pitch and partially cloudy tomorrow so i'm going to aim to have a bowl and hope his decent bats are too knackered to play well... have brought in Nico, my usual OD closer and medium pacer in an attempt to exploit the conditions.

I've suprisingly only 3 worthless fielders (including my keeper, who is now on a fielding net). My first XI then consists of 2 each of abysmal, woeful, feeble and mediocre. But then I was one of the few on here to lose my fc game!

In future I expect most of my players will have some fielding ability, but this will be a by-product rather than an aim of my future training plans.

Weather forecast for Essex (those of you with a home game), is Partially Cloudy and Humid for today, and Partially Cloudy for tomorrow. Definite bowl first weather !

A couple of my bowlers have improved overnight, but I'm still going to have to play a couple of reserves, be interesting to see how they get on.

I may actually have a chance of competing in my game. annoyingly I haven't had the time to fill the squad with numpties and concentrate on OD survival, which is a more realistic target. I'll gladly finish bottom and take all the sponsor/morale hits. I'll still be making enough money to rebuild towards the end of the season

Hoggard's Heroes v BATTY SHRIMPERS

We can tell you that Hoggard's Heroes won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking a touch on the green side. All the seam bowlers have been out there rubbing their hands on this partially cloudy and humid day.

Result !!

And a great start

End of Over 1 (1 runs). Hoggard's Heroes: 1-1, runrate=1.00
Curle 1-0-1-0
Poole* 1 (2 balls)
Hunter 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Symon Run Out 0 (FOW: 1/1)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIBS DIPPERS v Cricket Geniuses

We can tell you that DIBS DIPPERS won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking quite cracked! A field day for the seam bowlers I would reckon on this partially cloudy and humid day.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

ShrimperZone CC v Jock Saltires

We can tell you that ShrimperZone CC won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking quite cracked! A field day for the seam bowlers I would reckon on this partially cloudy and humid day.

an excellent start

We can tell you that Napster's XI won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a cracker! Hard and fast - should be a run-fest out there on this partially cloud day.

Lets join our team for ball-by-ball commentary.

1.4 . Van niekerk to Vithwana
That turned square! What a ball!
1.3 . Van niekerk to Vithwana
Played and missed at that. Well bowled.
1.2 W Van niekerk to Conroy
Conroy goes for the sweep... did it pitch in line? It certainly hit in line... the umpire slowly raises his finger. He's gone!
1.1 . Van niekerk to Conroy
Forward, stroked to the off.

End of Over 1 (Maiden). The Mighty Oaks: 0-0, runrate=0.00
Tuckett 1-1-0-0
Conroy* 0 (0 balls)
Pienaar 0 (6 balls)

0.6 . Tuckett to Pienaar
Pienaar plays a textbook defensive shot there.
0.5 . Tuckett to Pienaar
Seamed from off to leg and narrowly misses the top of leg stump. Tuckett has a few choice words for the batsmen which shouldn't be repeated here.
0.4 . Tuckett to Pienaar
Safe defensive stroke that. Pienaar won't win too many fans with strokes like that.
0.3 . Tuckett to Pienaar
Just managed to get his bat on that one. It almost squeezed through the gate.
0.2 . Tuckett to Pienaar
Tuckett has missed the stumps by a kittens whisker, great bowling!
0.1 . Tuckett to Pienaar
Tuckett bowls a nagging ball outside off stump that Pienaar willingly leaves

Looks like my oppo have put out a stronger team, with a £22k p/w opener, a £9k p/w and £14 p/w bowlers, and they wanted to bat,

End of Over 5 (2 runs). Aquantra CC: 20-0, runrate=4.00
Mapes 3-0-12-0
Hird* 5 (12 balls)
Nosipho 14 (18 balls)

lost the toss and have been put in to bat... hoping that the tricky conditions will be negated by the poor fitness of their bowlers. 13-0 from 6 overs.

I won the toss and elected to bat. Ooppppsssss i guess! Lol! Im 22-1. Sacrificed Phillips early on. Lamb and Bayliss at the crease at the moment. Oppo's team looks quite strong! Going to have a quick look how strong and see how much cash is in the account now!

Kev

2nd wicket goes down

End of Over 12 (3 runs). The Mighty Oaks: 27-2, runrate=2.25
Van niekerk 6-1-7-1
Regan* 4 (6 balls)
Pienaar 7 (34 balls)

Last Wicket: Vithwana c. Booth b. Tuckett 14 (FOW: 23/2)

Just short of £70,000 (8,000!?) from today's game. Looking through the opposition, they are much stronger in the bowling department although they did confuse me as at number 7, they have a 64K (£18,000 p/w) player and i thought he's going to be a useful bowler, but it turns out he is a batter (and im guessing the WK) but seems wierd to put him in that low. Lot of 15K batters in the side but hopefully the spin of Guy, Akram and Titterton should dog them down a bit come Day 2 when they bat ( well, probably today knowing my side )
