Wasn’t that trip, was one of the other Anglo Italian matches - Cosenza away maybe?

I went with Paul and a number of the other usual suspects to Fiorentina and didn’t meet Pompey John then…had the ‘pleasure’ of doing that for the first time later when we played them in the league.

At home I can remember playing Brescia, Padova and Pescara, were we in the competition just one season or two?

I think we were in it three seasons. The first season though we were knocked out before facing any Italian clubs.

Went into work on the Monday ready to tell my boss & sort the money out with the club (this was pre-google etc young'uns)..........to discover that she'd been hit by a motorbike courier in London & was in hospital with injuries at the time undiagnosed. Fortunately it turned out that the skull fracture wasn't serious as neither were her other injuries but given the status of the company at the time I couldn't leave without one of us in the office.

I still cry to this day..........😭😭😭😭

@united we stand I think it reads that it was Hooly's female boss and not his wife, of the time, that was hospitalised. Meaning that he could't go to Italy because he had to remain back in blighty to run the office.
