It was around that time that the also used to field a youth team in the Thundermite league U 18's (Southend Blues IIRC) .

The set up back then was far less "professional" There was no training ground, they used to use Priory park. and players (goalkeepers especially) were sometimes drawn from the Borough Comb as cover

sam got me a book called southend united chronicles 1906 to 2006 cant make threads on games just dont see them so ill get little dideys out off the book
