As I've said before, Sweden I believe ticks over nicely with a socialist government and they've not forced people in Gulags...

The French had one for many years too not so long ago.

And arguably the best UK Government of the 20th Century was a socialist one - the one of Clement Atlee that introduced the Welfare State and the NHS. Though I am sure that would make an interesting debate in itself.

It is very easy to confuse Communism, Maoism, Stalinism, Lennist-Marxism, Socialism and the like because it is easier to dumb them all down as "left wing". And don't ask me to tell you the difference as we'd be here all day. And it would be very, very boring.

I just dont like the way you post, which always seems to me that you are attempting to ridicule people, or put them down, and dismiss their comments at pointless just because they disagree with you, or they dont have hundreds of facts and statistics to back themselves up with.

We may not all be as clever as you think you are but there are plenty of people who can post a lot better stuff on here than you do.

Yes you did. The debate you took my quote from involved someone making comments that were based on his opinion, whereas I countered using some facts from the ONS. In that case, then yes, I didn't deal in opinion because I had the facts to back up any debate we had. In this thread we are all talking opinions as there are no facts to back any thing up. I am not aware of any nationwide survey in America based on their knowledge of "socialism". Feel free to prove me to wrong.

Aside from that you may be right on all counts. You may of course just be another person whose skin I can get under for fun. Only time will tell.

Oh, and I've shared a rostrum with Tony Benn as well. And was also on David Amess' election material at the last General Election (but we don't talk about that. Ever!).

He also said we should not have re taken the Fallland Islands which is a massive insult to all the British soldiers who died there, and he was a big supporter of the miners strike - how many pits did Labour re- open when they came back in power?

If you are referring to the previous thread you are basing your argument on the fact that you are unable to find an internet statistic that show Poles working in the UK send money home. Have you been to Poland? Go and see how their families are structured. Speak to Polish people working here. They send money home and although you cant find definite evidence on the internet it is a fact, which as someone who only deals with facts, you should take note of.

Bottom line, if you don't like what I post and how I post it, don't read it. It's not difficult.

I did, actually speak to a few Poles. Most of them said they were going home as their econmy was in a better state than ours.

I see you didn't see (or have failed to take on board) my earlier post about the appropriate use of statistics and opinions.

This is your problem though isnt it. You ignore anything facts that dont suit you argument and consider people who dont agree with you to be morons. you even said you spoke to some Poles - probably didnt ask them if they sent money home as you wouldnt anted to have heard their answer.
