Breaking News Francis offer accepted

Tis a real shame, but the writing has been on the wall for a couple of weeks to be honest.

I'm hoping for a decent fee, because when Tilson come out last week and said he wanted him to be part of his side, it was mentioned we had knocked a couple of offers back already. Possible bidding war would lead to us getting above his market value which would help us massively.

Only had a year left, wouldn't sign his a new 3 year deal, and said he wanted out. Best its sorted out early in the summer and gives us as much time as possible to bring in a replacement.

Not sure which good right backs are out there that we could sign. Southampton released Ostemobor but he will end up with another league one side. Possibly Miller from Concord Rangers? Formely of West Ham and has earned rave reviews, along with Lyle Taylor.

Huddersfield maybe?...

I'm going for someone northern either way. Think he will be moving back to his roots..
Do people really think we are going to have a succsessfull season ,it will be like last year no players coming in and tilly saying oh its hard getting players in

Good luck Franno - the only real quality player that we had left though some people on this board struggled to see it.

Franno really is capable of playing at a higher level and imho will look even better if he is in a half decent side with half decent players around him. At least if his new club is not full of loanees then he won't have to try and keep remembering their names!

Presume that we have someone lined up as club have known about this for some time but still let Sankofa go (even with Franno leaving I think this was the correct decision as Sankofa is really limited as a player)

I wouldnt bank on having someone lined up. We never replaced Bailey or Clarkey when they left. Nor does it matter the fee as Tilly wont see a penny. We'll be left with 2 defenders on the books, a shambolic state of affairs. I bet even Macclesfield and Accrington have got 6 or 7 defenders to choose from. Dont envy Tilly trying to find a replacement!

Bon voyage fifty pence foot, and remember, player of the year maybe, but you had a **** team around you, don't believe everything your agent tells you,and for God sake concentrate, and playing at SUFC,well, the pleasure has been all yours.

It does seem that in the space of a season Francis went from being our most under-rated player to our most over-rated player.

Been a great servant to the club over the last few years or so and will be missed. Those who said he was responsible for getting us relegated are the kinds of moron who were hassling him from the stands for large parts of the season.

Still, life goes on. I'm sure we'll recieve a suitable fee and that, along with getting his wage off our bill, will allow us extra room to bring in more in our own price range.

I would say the difference is the quality around him. When you have players like Eastwood, Bailey, Gower compared to players like Walker, Christophe and Sankofa, his class is obviously going to shine more in a bad bunch.

A good crosser of the ball, but i'd rather have a solid defender. In truth, we need a good clear out and bring in some fresh, hungry people to liven the place up. I would only be sad to see Moussa leave, and thats only because he came through the youth team. We do need to get some half decent freebies in though.

And dont forget, Keith Dublin won player of the year.

I don't think it matters if Tilly sees a penny of the transfer fee or not. There's no way we should be looking at spending any money on transfers this summer with our financial problems. Every penny needs to be saved for next season unless people want another year of not paying wages and defending winding-up petitions.

The important thing is to get Francis, and other high earners, off the wage bill so that we can bring in replacements on free transfers for far less money. Francis was signed in the Championship. We can't justify paying a League Two player Championship money.

why ruined your day brighton ..........he cant defend{fink about it} dave.....

Agreed but I think he looks worse in our defence as were so poor and he has to constantly defend.

In a decent side which actually attacked a bit I reckon he could be a good weapon.

hope he goes.. baffles me how he got player of the year. He probably did have his best season but in a **** team. He still can't mark, he still loses contcentration regulary and he still ranges from being one of the better players in the team to the worst (normally the latter). and for those of you that will argue... just watch the end of season DVD.. can garantee he will be at fault for two thirds of the goals conceded!

You just answered your own question and you can't expect a single player to be consistently playing well when everyone around him is consistently shocking!

Who will buy the end of season DVD? Would you buy one as I'd love to relive those moments of us defending like school girls. He will also be responsible for most of our goals scored this season.

just because he had his best season doesn't automatically mean he should get player of the year. Grant and Mildenhall were way ahead of him IMO. He was poor in the Championship and he was the weak link in the first two league one seasons when we had a much better team. He is a mediocre player who has stood out SLIGHTLY above the dross that is the rest of them. I'd rate Juppy and Che Wilson above him and Lewis Hunt (and i thought he was poor)!!!

Course i'm not going to buy it.. i was making the point that the evidence is there and it speaks for itself. and if he is responsible for SOME of our goals this season then that isn't much of an achievement due to the lack of goals and chances that were created this season.
