Freddy's contract

Does anyone actually know how long he is contracted at the club for and what this supposed option the clubhas actually is?

It all seemed to make sense at first including an option so that we can keep a player if he does well but I understand both parties have the option. If a player has an option then potentially the club can be sat there paying a player whois nowhere near good enough to play for them.

Does this option effectively put another year on his contract or is it down to Freddy's discretion? If so, what is the point of the option in the first place when you could just offer a contract extension and save some ink?

Finally, is the bottom line that Freddy's contract will expire at the end of this season, next or 2027?

I thought he signed a 2 1/2 year deal originally with SUFC having an option for another year - IF we wanted to keep him. So by my reckoning Fred is contracted until end of next season.

as i'm sure we'll want to keep him, i'm guessing that we will exercise the option to keep him for the extra year, meaning the end of season 2007/8 . . . unless we've decided that he doesn't quite cut the mustard

Is it actually possible that we would have been able to include such an option? It just seems a little odd that we should be able to extend his contract regardless of the wishes of the player.
