Dont really think the cant change a winning team applies this season we change the team every single week through injury or suspension, and most matches we have to change formation after a sending off. Once his fit get him on BBBC has looked isolated at times why waste his flick ons.

We've a lot of games coming up... for me I think we should be able to alternate Eastwood and Corr as the main striker. I'd rather that than shunting Freddy out wide.

He has been doing a lot of gym work,Jogging again and may make the squad on Saturday. While we have been doing well without him be great to have him involved again

When I saw Freddy last week he said he'd be available for the Cheltenham game which is obviously this Saturday. Mustn't forget he rammed in 4 in 4 in the League at the start. Wouldn't have dropped him then would we. Now? When he is available he may have to be patient working his way back into the team again. Must say when I saw him he was buzzing to go again.

Be useful to have on the bench on sat for 25-30 minutes if we are chasing the game, or 10-15 if we are cruising. Slowly ease him back as Woodrow is banned for 3 games I would assume.

How can anyone honestly say we are a better team without Freddy and be serious.Any team in this division would welcome a fit Freddy with open arms.As for 5-4-1- formation ,i have no doubts with his talent he would cause major headaches for any cb playing the lone striker .

Maybe it's because they've actually seen how we play with and without him?

We have changed our formation (amongst other things) though, so you cant really compare how we are playing now to how we were playing then and make a judgement on it being down to Eastwood.

In his absence a number of factors have changed, it could be he would flourish when the team is playing better as it now is. The issue of course is where he fits in.

Surely how, when and where Fred plays is down to PB and he will have been thinking this through at Boots and Laces during training for some time. I'm pretty impressed with his tactics overall and confident that if/when Fred leads the line, he will fit the system. That's what we (sometimes) pay Brown for!

Im sure he has, but the bottom line is Freddy will not suit playing in the wide position that Straker does. Whilst he may do more than he used to he isnt going to be chasing back covering the fullback, and if he was its a waste anyway.

In the current system the only place he can play in my opinion is as the lone striker, a role I dont think he is particularly suited to either, and Corr shouldnt be dropped anyway.

I love Freddy and want him to play, but I cant see him getting in the side at the moment and dont think we should be changing systems on the run we are.

If Brown does manage to squeeze him in and it works Ill be very much impressed.

I think freddy can play up top on his own and actually be better than corr in some aspects (not all, heading ability for one) we know he can link play up well, we know he can beat a player, we know he is a major goal threat (all when fit of course) a little kick up the bottom regarding workrate and I think hes there.

Certainly doesnt have an issue with work rate going by his efforts at the beginning of the season.

My concern with him up on his own is that we lack physical presence. Earlier in the season when Corr wasnt in the side the ball never stuck up top and Im not convinced Freddy can impose himself. He is no lightweight and does put himself about, but when he was up front without Corr he didnt seem to get the ball enough.

Good shout with early season form, I agree with most of what you say, just think we lack a bit of guile and a sprinkle of magic at times.

Totally agree and thats what Freddy brings, I definitely want him in the side but just cant see how to squeeze him in the way we are set up at the moment.

Definitely a head scratcher for Brown, but probably a nice one.

It'll be interesting to see if PB continues to play 4-3-3 when we have a fully fit compliment of strikers. I wonder how much of this is down to choosing the formation to suit the players available rather than the other way around.

Either way, it's working at the moment...

I think he picked it to suit those available, but it certainly worked, and so no need to change it.

It is nice that Freddy doesn't need to be rushed back, and can be used as an impact sub if we want/need to change it up until PB sees fit otherwise.

Indeed, our form improved when we switched to it but as you say is that because it is just getting the most out of the available players? Id be surprised if we were to change with 5 straight wins though and I think Brown likes the 3 midfielders especially with Leonard in there when he comes back.

I cant see it being a factor for a couple of games because even if Eastwood is training again he will need some time to get back into the swing of it.

Great post, I think PB was kind of forced down this path and hey presto we stopped conceding goals and started winning matches. A fit Eastwood means we have the option of changing it......who would be a manager. Interesting times ahead.
