I personally felt that last night underlined once again that evening matches under floodlights generate by far the better atmospheres. The Norwich, Manure and QPR games have all been electric this season - I'm sure that the performances have had more than a little to do with it but there's still something about making a night out of a trip to the football that just can't be matched by an afternoon kickoff for me.

The most convincing counter-argument is probably that of convenience - especially for exiles needing to get out of work in order to make substantial journeys. In spite of my overall preference for eveining matches, having recently ended a 6 year spell on the south coast relying on the trains it's a point that I have some sympathy with!

Thoughts?

Evening games are always better atmosphere wise.

Even on a Saturday the atmosphere picks up when it gets dark.

Saturdays please. What am I supposed to do this afternoon. Even the Rugby will be over by 3.... :(

I love the Friday games but can understand the annoyance of some - long away trips on fridays / late dashes from work can be a nuisance.

I've voted for Saturday afternoon. For me, it is easier to get to and from Southend on a Saturday. Having studied Physical Education at A Level and learnt about the history of the game I cannot look beyond the working class people when Saturday was and still is to a lot of people 'Football Day'. For this sole reason, history and a bit of tradition, I will always choose Saturday afternoon. Along with the fact that as an away fan travelling to a friday night game has a number of implications staring it in the face!

The Charm

Love going to evening games, is it the clubs choice to play fridays? Im sure it isn't but it would be great to have more.
