I think its more the case that we have sooooo many central midfielders in our squad ( yet not enough centre backs/wingers/strikers!) that Gomis is not going to get a game in centre midfield so the lad is probably pretty peeved at training with us for the past 4 months + is still awaiting his debut. So shoving him out wide where we only have Hurst + Straker might keep him quiet .

I personally still feel Lenny should be given the freedom of the right flank + use his pace running at defenders like a right footed Gareth Bale thus allowing Laird or Gomis to sit in the centre.

Leonard has shown how good he is in the middle, wouldnt want to lose that as he would, as most wide players do, drift out of games at time.

Hurst is our main goal threat, even against Dagenham he didnt play that well but scored the goal, no one else looked remotely like scoring. I do feel we could do with another pacy option as Straker CAN be good but more than likely he looks like he cant trap a bag of cement. Wouldve liked to have got Emile Sinclair who went to Northampton and scored twice the other day.

This !

The Dagenham game proved to me that we could still be playing now and non of the marksmen would have scored..Defo need pace.

Yet just over a week before that game we put 3 goals past the best team in the league, with 2 of the front 3 scoring.

Sigh.

Do you have a nice word to say about anyone ?

High up on both goals and assists and clearly our most creative and productive player, but hey not good enough for Wiggy.

Stick by what i say, as soon as the conditions got sticky, Hurst became non existent!

He scored 3 in 5 before today though when weather was still bad and the two games he didnt score in we changed to 442, it maybe playing in that system is going to hamstring him.

Without wanting to sound too negative but Gomis was woeful. I hope he turns out to be decent but his positional sense, awareness and passing was shocking.

On the Equaliser he didn't close down the goal scorer and bringing him on today seriously disrupted the balance and shape of the team. Not his fault, Brown is the decision maker.

fingers crossed he improves, but I could tell after five minutes that he was well out of his depth!!!

Can't disagree with that, was almost like going down to 10 men. The phrase 'square peg, round hole' springs to mind a bit.

If he doesn't do well here then you seriously have to question Brown's judgement. He has been here for pretty much half a season before we signed him. If he is a defensive midfielder then why play him out wide when we could have put Hurst on the right and Atkinson on the left?

Can't agree with you more. PB clearly rates him, but was a complete fish out of water on the flank today.

At 2-1 and with the way the game had gone up until that point, it was a risk to put Gomis on, especially in a position that he seemed to be unsure of exactly what Brown wanted & the team needed. He's obviously shown something in training but I just felt that it was a risky sub and one that was a surprise when Straker was sitting on the bench.
