Yes, great soundtrack. I only ever bought 2 soundtracks, The lost Boys and Beverley Hills Cop. Not a bad track on either

I liked a lot of the music on the original Matrix soundtrack. The Lost in Translation one is great too.

Oh and the soundtrack to Heat. The ending is exceptional - the perfect ending to an amazing film. "God moving of the face of the waters" has been overdone in recent years but its not lost its power at the end of Heat.

Of course, forgot Mogwai 'The Returned' is ace. I have 'Zidan' on DVD and the footage was a bit dull - only ever watched once, maybe worth another go.
Didnt know Ben Frost did soundtracks - am fond of his stuff. Clint I need to hear but I struggle to forget the PWEI years....

Ive realised most of my choices are Jerry Goldsmith. But of course John Williams was also amazing.

But the most talented is Marvin Haimlisch, who did the soundtrack for the Spy who Loved Me. He is one of only twelve people to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony (also known as an EGOT). He is one of ten people to win three or more Oscars in one night and the only one other than a director or screenwriter to do so. He is one of only two people to have won those four prizes and a Pulitzer Prize (Richard Rodgers is the other). Hamlisch also won two Golden Globes...

LIT came along at the right time for me, I got massively into My Bloody Valentine and Squarepusher especially on the back of it. Maybe Sofia Coppola tried a bit too hard to be indie, but like the Matrix soundtrack it was a big part in me finding new music.

I don't think Coppola had had much input on the soundtrack from what I hear. Got Kevin Shields to get his arse out of bed so very worthwhile.

Yeah The Returned is definitely good enough to listen to on it's own. I'm not really a massive fan of the show, thought it lost it's way. Strugged with the Zidane soundtrack and film but would love Mogwai to do a lot more soundtrack work (I think they'd like to as well) but I know they got badly burnt with some aborted projects. They also got burnt a bit with the credit for The Fountain. It tends to be you contribute loads of stuff and then someone high up cuts and modifies things and asks other people to re-record your ideas and credit can be lost/buried. Seems quite unfair.

Yeah Ben Frost also did the Sleeping Beauty soundtrack which I've not seen/heard. He's currently doing the Fortitude TV series soundtrack. Only seen one episode but he was a high-point for sure, very much like his Aurora LP /fanboy.

Definitely check out the Clint stuff, I reckon it's right up your street. The Fountain and Sunshine are brilliant but flawed films but the soundtracks on both are exceptional. Nothing like PWEI!

No way The Jungle Book is definitely valid. Since having our little lad (1 tomorrow!) we've listened and watched a lot of disney which I've not see for 15/20 years. The soundtracks are consistently great, and completely timeless.
