Greg Halford signs

I wonder if he is getting paid, he offered to play for free until January........

Sorry to be a pedant but it is not possible to have someone playing for free - it is the law of this country that there is a minimum wage.

Otherwise you get organisations (such as the large U.S. companies that make huge profits in this country and pay little to no tax) offering "work experience" to vulnerable and desperate youngsters and getting free labour.

You can see in this show reel where Greg plays best, defence and midfield, but that long throw and aerial ability is a great help for the attack side of things. He is also pretty decent in the dark arts of football, and winding the opposition up, he learned from the master, Karl Duguid!

Mods can we review the swear filter, this one slipped through the net.

Thanks CaP for this. Can see why he's been used in midfield, not a bad passer at all and has/had a bit of a turn of pace over a couple of yards. Good feet for a big lad.

If he keeps fit and contributes over the next month, I don't see why his deal shouldn't be extended until the end of the season. Seems a very good signing for a very young and inexperienced squad.

No problem WS. Obviously this is just a snapshot of his performance for a few of his more recent clubs. When you think his transfer fees total around 7 Million he must have something about him! Having said that the club who got by far the most games out of him was Colchester we also got over 2 million for him from Reading.

With us till the middle of jan...he offered to pay for nothing but “to their credit” Southend out a package together for hi ..MM wants to use his utility man credentials...sounded a really genuine guy who had got his appetite for the game back after a poor time injury wise at Aberdeen....said he was a lucky the ball hit a dodgy part of the pitch before it reached the keeper...

Dont forget until the very end of last week we were still Umbongo tied- so understandable he would explore that option. Imagine our Umbongo clearing would have killed the Grimsby option if we were keen and able to complete the signing. And certainly Grimsby wanting him to do more tp prove his fitness was never going to fly unless he had no other offers.
