Significant change - HMRC can decide if someone had unpaid tax and then just dip into their bank account to get it. Seems pretty risky to me, because the HMRC aren't exactly perfect in collecting tax and working out what's owed. Also could be an issue for Ron!!

I think there would need to be money in the bank account for HMRC to dip into it.

Even so, the idea that the HMRC can dip into someone's account without a court order and proof that an individual/business owes money seems a worrying precedent to set.

Haven't read the article, but didn't they say when this was announced that a min of £5k must be left in the account after the funds are taken. Since the club probably run in a heavy overdraft position anyway, would this really become an issue?
