Calling all Southend Fans.

Hullbridge Sports FC are a growing team in the local area, playing in the Isthmian North (4 Divisions below the EFL) and with strong connections to Southend United it makes the perfect second team for local fans that can't attend Southend games.

The club is going through a rebrand both on and off the pitch and with their own bar and facilities its the perfect place to watch semi professional football and socialise.

My question for you all, what woukd you like to see at the Bridge / what would be needed for you to support Hullbridge as your second team ?

All suggestions are welcome and any reasons as to why you wouldn't support the club are also welcome ?

Hullbridge chairman should speak to SUFC about linking up with the club, so Hullbridge can have an pick of our talented U19 players to go out on loan there or U23 players who need games.

I would need to move 20 miles and for my children to grow up.

However, on a more constructive note, I live round the corner from Witham Town and I used to go a bit if Southend weren't playing at home and before I had the kids.

As you can't control the results, a good clubhouse (with proper beer not just Carling/Fosters etc) and a welcoming atmosphere would always tempt me to come back, perhaps cheap children's prices and a team that plays attacking football.

I think if you treat people well and as if they matter then you will see people tell their mates etc. Such a pity that at Southend we don't really do it as it is an easy win.

Been to Hullbridge loads of times. Feel they are punching above their weight now. Friendly club, big bar, small stands.
Would need to improve their pitch, always liable to waterlogging.

They have spent money on the pitch this summer but your right they have had problems in the past including their cricket square. Probably why the cricket folded.

Same here, try to fit in 3-4 games a season. PItch used to be rock hard at the start of every season and somewhat 'undulating', needs a fair bit of attention imo. Bar is good but staff have a preference for serving their regulars first in my experience. Needs more seats and covered sections if looking to stay at their current level and build-up support.

Various issues within the cricket club itself notably between some members, my sis-in-law used to do the match-day teas. Folding always looked likely.

Played against Hullbridge a few times in the Yoof league back in the day. They used to have a reputation for being a very unsportng, agressive team (which I can confirm from personal experience).

They have plans to move the old stand and build a new stand...Something along those lines anyway. They do have some new people involved who will not be sitting on their backsides and will drive the club forward.

Went to a good number of games last season. The management had them playing some decent stuff before the wheels slightly fell off towards the end but they've made some cracking signings for that level so far. Good little set up down there as well. Well worth a visit

There are many local teams worth following.I don't think Hullbridge are any better or worse than at least five other clubs.
