And we didn't.

Granted the debt hasn't actually been paid yet, and we don't know exactly who will pay it, but we aren't in administration like 98% of people on here insisted we would be.

As for the consortium, what planet do they live on? How much has RM put into this whole project, and they thought offering £1 would be ok. Yea, genius. Would they have doen the same thing if they were RM? I somehow doubt it.

I presume the transfer embargo is still in place, and will only be lifted upon payment however?

Most people did and still do think we will go into Admin because we still haven't paid it off.

As for the company offering £1, it actually happens a lot more than you would think. Yes RM has put a lot of money into the company but then he also has a lot to lose. They wouldn't control anything that RM bought through his own company or however the ground was dealt with, so Ron would continue to make money through the rent without losing all of the money within the running of the club. Thats how the consortium saw it. For example the Pier was sold for a single pound just a few years ago even though the previous company had pumped in money to try and restore it and ended up losing fortunes. It's a case of sell up before going bankrupt kind of sale.

RM will quite rightly never sell the club for £1 though. The club still has many assets that are worth a lot of money to not only the club, but the entire Southend area, and he knows that.

I realise it happens, Ken Bates likes to buy things for a pound if I remember correctly. But as you say, RM will never do so.

The thing I didn;t like about their anonimity was the fact that at such a desperate time for the club, they directed time away from the main fight, and yet stayed anonomous. Whilst that is their right, why not openly say who you are, and what you want. In my eyes, they were only seeking to make RM look bad.

As I said in another post, if they love the club why didn't they just offer to loan the money? They tried to undermine RM with a perfectly-timed last-minute take-it-or-leave-it offer which I never felt comfortable with.

For the time being I'll stick with Ron, which I said before today & not just because he appears to have got us off the hook.
