From strictly a supporters point of view, do you think this is the biggest match ( 2nd leg versus Borient) in the clubs history.I realise that promotion from Div 2 should take precedence, and many have said its only a tin pot trophy, but try telling that to the Players , Manager and President, all the players apart from Harris would only dream of playing in a final at Wembley, MrSheppard im sure would think all the money he has invested in his club would all have been worth it ,just to be able to lead his club out onto Wembley with Mr Sturrock. And has a supporter of Southend surely it would be a dream come true,it may never happen again in our life time.I know i will be the most nervous man in all Australia in two weeks time .UTB.To be so close ,in all my dreams i never ever thought I would live long enough to ever see them just one match away from WEMBLEY!!:omg:

Nothing was bigger than Bury '91 but this would certainly be our biggest ever away day attendance.

I'm assuming that you mean the return leg is the biggest match in Southend's history?

Well we've been in two finals of this competition previously and played at Wembley before so I'm with ORM on this, Bury '91 is the biggest. I think the only thing that could upstage that is promotion to the Premier League.

Hopefully the lads will get the job done at the hall for Timms .What a blow .The only damp spot on another great night for the super blues . And what fantastic support

We have made the final twice so no its not the biggest game in our history, not even in this competition.

It is however still a massive game with a trip to Wembley as the prize so a lot riding on it!

Melbourne Shrimper here, yes we did make the final twice before ,the difference this time is the final will be played on "HALLOWED TURF", where as last two times was at Millenium stadium.Just to see Southend United walk from the tunnel out onto the ground will bring tears to my eyes i can assure you.I dont know about Bury91 ,im sorry. Also i do know promotion is probably more important. But as much as promotion is more important , SOUTHEND at WEMBLEY to me is historical.:Worthy:

I organised a two week holiday to Egypt in the first two weeks of March as opposed to late March and early April - the Mrs went beserk as she wanted to be away for her brithday but I couldn't have missed what would be 'The single biggest match' in our clubs history from a supporters point of view.

If we lose, we can play it down on the basis that promotion is more important, it's only the JPT blah blah blah

Realistically, promotions come and go (although very special and very rare) but the Blues at Wembley will be the holy grail as a supporter of a smaller local side.

It may not happen again in many of our lifetimes, I think our only other time was a league game against Clapton Orient or something like that.

Another thing as ridiculous as it sounds is the result, I would take a loss in the final if offered now - because the day, occasion, the build up and the fact I have seen my beloved Blues @ Wembley is the most important thing.

I really just hope we don't blow it. So in answer to the original psot, for me is answer is YES (unless we lose :winking:)

Sydney Shrimper here. Yes I will be on a plane if we make it to Wembley. I did it for the first final in Wales but Wembley would be something very special.

Agree completely with Silencers post!

Although having 'paid' the price for a guaranted place in the final, surely you would somehow need to turn up to the match not knowing we were always going to lose? Hugely difficult otherwise to A, turn up in the first place, and B, not let on to those around you in the stadium that you know the final score and it's not good news!

did bury in 1991 so know who put the ball in the net.

did ldv final at cardiff v wrexham.

want to do wembley 2013 because "[seeing] my beloved Blues @ Wembley is the most important thing..."

...Win or Lose. :winking:

I have said it before and will say it again I would rather see us play at Wembley this season than get promotion

I love the way people call it the "tin pot trophy" in a condescending way, then you get to the area-final and its suddenly the biggest most amazeballs competition ever.

I'm a big advocate of the JPT, aside from the play-offs, its a great way for L1&2 clubs to get to Wembley, and maybe even get a trophy in the cabinet. Long live the JPT!

How much financially could this mean to us? I know it's only the JPT but it's a Wembley final and we will have been on Sky 3 times if we make it through. Surely enough to fund a quality L2 loan signing? ;)
